That is pretty sad that after a week the order still has not been put in. On the other hand, I've heard several times lately that Avalon is extremely behind.

Wow, $2,600 that's a bunch. I've always wanted an Avalon but don't have that kind of bucks.
Well if your going to do something you might as well do it right. Good luck and let us know how you like it.
Ok Im going to make a suggestion, why not buy two Avalon M5's which is essentially a Avalon AD2022. I just priced them from AMS and the for 1199.00 each. NO TAXES and its 200.00 dollars cheaper. Yes all avalon gear is on back order but AMS told me it would be a month before I got my 737 but to my suprise it was at my door in 2 weeks. And they have a payment plan. (sweet for us poor people) :D

Good luck
Eddie

According to the spec of your card, you should have two balanced TRS 1/4 in. inputs. Balanced (XLR) from the pre, to 1/4 (TRS) at the card. If you can make it happen, balanced throughout is the way to go. Good luck, and enjoy your new pre…if it ever arrives.

Thanks! I will take that into consideration, buying two M5's. We will see how things go.

Up until now, I have been going through a Mackie 808s mixer/amp PA tape outputs to the E-MU 1212m sound card. The sound quality on recordings is like I am in a metal chamber. I notice it most as I increase the volume of the recording. I use the AT4033 mic.

Hey guys I have just got my avalon DI the other day and must say I am more than happy with it understatement. My taylor sounds great through it and talk about quiet. now just got to get a good dual pre as the mbox focusrite pres are good but they dont give me a rajah!

I am glad to hear that the Taylor sounds nice through the Avalon DI. I wish people would post some sound samples.

GC said that although Avalon in backed up on filling orders, he tells me they will be able to make the order, huh (so he says). I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I also ordered a couple good cables to go from the 2022 to the sound card.

Rick,

Dunno, but you might want to call Dot (Dan Richards) at Soundpure (soundpure.com) about getting a 2022 right away.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, still waiting for the AD2022, man I getting impatient!

I got a call from GC, and the AD2022 should be here next week. I am overjoyed!

Just plug a bass into that puppy and feel the power.-Richie

Haven't had a chance to use the 2022 yet, because I am waiting for the Hafler amp to power my monitors. It is due to arrive tomorrow.

Ok, I got everything hooked up and tested things out, and it sounds awesome, but my problem is , I think, the Cubase VST software. I can't get a strong enough signal out of my second channel to record, it is very faint. Oh man, this is frustrating. The preamp channel is showing good input and output, and the E-MU sound card software shows a strong signal, as well as a strong signal out of my monitors, , but the Cubase software doesn't give me much sound, no matter what volume I choose. HMM, I am stumped.

Even though I havent had much time to fiddle with the AD2022, my first impression is one of, "Wow"! As I sang into the mic, the sound coming from the monitors was so accurate that it was amazing. My wife could not tell that it was a recorded sound from the next room. She said it sounded as if I was just singing. Needless to say, I am filled with joy!

I think I will have to reinstall my sound software, because I can't get the 2nd preamp channel to give any real volume, don't know why.

More updates and samples in the near future.

Awesome! That's the way I felt when I got mine. It is an unbelieveable pre!

I feel your joy, and your pain. I agree with your assessment that you have a software problem. Everything you posted above indicates the Avalon is putting out a signal on channel 2. Have you switched the output cables to verify you are getting signal from both sides of the pre?
Anyway, the 2022 has colored my "sound" a lot, for obvious reasons. It's my only kickass pre, "the gold channel". It's clean as a whistle with just a little of that big transformer sound. It has defined what I record. Sure, I'd like to have Pendulum and Great River pres, and maybe an old Neve or two, but I don't. In the end, we are all gear poor at some level. I had to pick two clean multi-purpose matched channels, I chose the 2022, and it has not let me down. I use the twinQ also, and the combo serves me well. Each does some things the other doesn't. I have yet to get the big time colored pre, I'm favoring Pendulum.
If you only get 2 badass channels, you could do a lot worse than the 2022. Enjoy. Hope you get the channel issue straightened out. Mazel Tov! It's a good amp.-Richie

Well, I solved the problem I was having. It was a software issue. I was able to dial in a real nice acoustic guitar sound using the studio Projects C1, if you can believe that. I fiddled around until I was able to get a nice guitar and vocal blend.

One thing I noticed. On my previous recordings, using a cheap sound card and my Mackie mixer/amp, I always used to notice how the quality of sound would quickly degrade as I stepped away from the speakers. But with this setup, I hear good sound quality no matter where I am around the house without any really noticable loss in sound quality.

I am pleased!
