which one do you recommend more as a bass drum mic and why?

I've only used the Audix once and didn't care for it. I have a couple of D-112's and I like 'em.

The Audix D4 was released as a kick mic although when used against a Beta 52 or D112, I thought it was weak. I would recommend the D4 for floor tom miking however. Audix has released a D6, which is a major upgrade for the kick mic. I would recommend any of the Audix line (D1 - D6) as they are very well made and are excellent sounding mics. I really am impressed by the D2 on toms and the D3 on guitar cabinet miking.

Good luck.

I'm with Track Rat on this one... the D4 is too thin on the bottom for a kick drum mic, and takes too much tweaking to get it to sound right for my tastes. I'm a happy D112 owner... I've been using the D-112 since it was introduced. They're pretty cool looking too.
