Audition 3 recording stopping

I need to record some stuff that is already in another program on my computer into Audition 3.0. When I set Audition recording and then try to move to the other program to start playback, Audition stops the recording.
Any suggestions as to how to keep Audition recording would be welcome.

Are you using ASIO drivers in Audition? If so, is the "release ASIO drivers in background" option selected?

In any case, what sort of files are you trying to copy into Audition? If they're anything standard you should be able to transfer them without doing a real time dub.

Sorted it. In one of the Preference options I unchecked "start source first".
