I'm sending it back.
Do you know if it's possible to get your money back on the download version?

Whether the upgrade is suitable for any given person very much depends on what their needs are and what what the configuration of their hardware is. I don't think one can make blanket statements about it one way or the other.

I'd suggest to anyone thinking about it to measure their needs against the published info (by which I mean what Adobe says and what is said on the various relevant forums and reviews) then, if that's encouraging, download the tryout and see what the fit and feel is. Then decide whether to plonk down your money. Nobody can make that decision for you.

I was on the phone with support. They said I had 30 days.

Thanks for the reply, I called their tech support yesterday and found out that their 30 return period is good for all of their software, so I returned my 2.0 license too.

A few years ago I switched to SAWStudio as my main tracking/mixing app, but I do still use my trusty old CEP 2.1 sometimes for noise reduction and also for quick destructive edits like silencing out the hiss and hum at the beginning of guitar tracks and such, it is also my main app for doing batch file conversions, as well as MP3 creation.

Last nite, I tracked down and ordered the boxed upgrade to AA 1.5, there are a couple of improvements in there that I should find useful, I figured that I better get that upgrade before they're all gone.

:)

I am hopefully going to have the chance to try it out tonight. I love the new look of the compressor and ASIO support!

Someone told me Adobe has an update for Audition that is in the process of being released. (ozpeter any truth to the update and what the fixes are?)

I am going to upgrade as soon as I bump my memory to 1 gig.
The tryout is awesome.

You mean an update to 2.0? It's only been out a week!

But longer term, I'm sure Adobe will continue to issue further updgrades for this program - the huge revision that they have just released, which must represent a big investment for them, indicates that those who said that Adobe wouldn't continue to develop Syntrillium's little baby were completely wrong.

Part of the new release is the Adobe Bridge browser and metadata program - a couple of days ago this self-updated over the internet. It will be interesting to see whether down the track something like that happens to Audition. That's pure speculation - I have no inside knowledge.

It all sounds and looks good but I'm gonna have to wait until I have enough cash. Right now, all of my money is going for a new soundcard. Until then, 1.5 will have to do. Besides, if it isn't broke, why should I fix it? I probably will anyway, though... Eventually.

Well i updated from 1.5 last night. I didn't have much time to play around with the program but the new GUI is very intuitive and easy on the eyes. I love that it has ASIO support, a fantastic mixer, and the compressor is a godsend!!! I didn't notice any problems right out of the box. I was running 13+ tracks without stutter, during this trial I had my virus protection, internet, and firewall running in the backround. I am very happy about this upgrade, money well spent!

I am running audition 2.0 on:
2.4 P4 800fsb
512 mb ddr400 (soon to upgrade to a gig)
EMU0404

I'm contemplating an upgrade to 2.0 but will need to invest in a new PC first. The trial owned my current PC. What CPU/Computer specs should I look to get in order to do some of the real time effects and other cool things that version 2 has to offer?

The Adobe website says that PIII is required and a P4 is recommended. That doesn't help much considering some of you have had problems at 1.7Ghz. Thoughts?

Adobe's FAQ .pdf recommends at least a P4 with 1G of RAM. They note that using the "minimum system requirements" may affect how many tracks you can run and the number of effect instantiations.

I'm going with the trial version before I put my money down, even though 2.0 includes some features I've been dying for. My computer is 2GHz AMD, 1G RAM, with two hard drives, and it runs like a train with 1.5.

If you are going to build a new pc I would recommend the following:
P4 2.0+
Motherboard which supports 500-800 FSB
1gb of RAM (at least)
Good soundcard
2 hd's (one for files other for OS)
Microsoft XP

With prices relatively low, I'd say P4 3.0+ or whatever is fastest you can afford with that gig or more of memory. Stick with Intel - that's what the program is optimised for.

I agree, I was just posting IMO the minimum requirements for building a music pc now-a-days...

I ran the trial verson on a cheapie Dell... P4 2.8 w/512 ram. Ran great...had Nortons running too. Plugins work much better, and the "studio" reverb is actually almost usable...but MUCH better for quick listens in multitrack view.

I see AA2.0 as a big step up.

One thing was I didn't care for some of the color contrasts too much, and only saw that you could change colors on the wav files only in the multitrack view. Maybe I missed that so far. My 19" monitors are about 6 feet away from my sitting position, and sometimes stuff was hard to read.

It IS different though.

I think I still like CD architect better for CD burning though. That one is hard to beat.

dummy me!...it is easy to do as in other versions.
btw, AA2.0 is rockin'. the automation evelopes are killer, and the ability to tweak plugins during playback...and the multiband comp...and it just runs better. No brainer from this home reccor. When the 30 days are up, whippin out the ole' plastic.

Upgrade from 1.0 to 1.5 to 2.0...?

At the risk of sounding non-intuitive and just downright dumb, the upgrade to 2.0 is from 1.5, correct? I ask this because unless I am just not seeing something that is right in front of me, I can no longer find any reference to the download for 1.5 on the Adobe site. I still have version 1.0. What must I do?

My understanding is that you can upgrade from Audition 1.0 or 1.5 to 2.0 (ie they don't mind which version, which has miffed some who paid for the upgrade from 1.0 to 1.5 and now pay the same as someone who didn't). Only version 2.0 is now available from Adobe.

Wow - thanks for the info! It'll have to be 2.0 then.

Honestly though, I'd be miffed too if I'd purchased 1.5 for $69.95 + tax and then had to pay another $129.00 to upgrade to 2.0. when others could go from 1.0 to 2.0 directly and save $70.00. I wonder what the reasoning behind that is.
