audiophile 2496 'problems'

sup all, recently i bought an M-Audio Audiophile 2496... ok now the problems start. i installed the pci card in the slot, no biggie. then tried to install the drivers from the driver disc it comes with. but it froze everytime so i went to the support/driver section of the M-Audio site and downloaded the latest Delta 2496 driver, is the Audiophile I have a delta 2496? or are they different cards? that could be my first and only problem, if the drivers aren't compatible, but if they are the same cards heres the next problem. i got the 2496 control panel working, but when i plug into the outputs, i get no sound....i have some normal powered altec lansing desktop speakers i want to listen to mp3's and cd's with so i plug an "1/8 to "1/4 adapter to the speakers and plug that into an RCA to "1/4. the right coverters, no doubt, but still no sound.... i don't get it. i look at the delta control panel and i see the levels but no sound...
 
The driver labeled as delta audiophile 2496 is what you're looking for. There's a new driver up, 5.10.00.36 as of december 26.
Download that, then go to control panel> sound devices(or whatever it's called)> audiophile 2496>properties>drivers>update driver> browse for location>
then point it towards the folder containing the driver you downloaded.
Then restart
then give it a whirl
 
i actually already installed that driver like 2 days ago...next step?

Hey Mbuster (or anyone else who knows),

What if I'm already using the card with old drivers and I want to update? Do I use the M-Audio uninstaller first, or just go straight to the procedure you outlined?

I recently updated the drivers, but they came with no read me files, and I forgot how to do this, lol!

jOs: glad you got it going. I considered suggesting you check that, but figured you might be insulted by it.
werewolf: you don't really need to uninstall the old driver first, going through the update driver process in windows will be fine.
 
lol mbuster, i wish u would have....who cares if i am insulted..its just a forum...lol and yeah u dont have to uninstall.
