I am using an audio buddy as a headphone amp for my audiophile 2496 sound card and would like to know if I can get stereo by using just one of the preamps on the audio buddy?

I ran an insert cable (1/4 TRS to dual RCA) from the card and plugged the 1/4 TRS into an XLR adaptor (Hosa GX7-235). Then plugged the Hosa adapter into the XLR input on the audio buddy. On the audio buddy output I ran a 1/4 TRS for the headphones. The sound is BAD.

I tried to research this out but I'm pretty new at this and may be missing the obvious? Would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks.

Here's a couple of suggestions.
a) Do your speakers have a headphone jack? If so attach your speakers to the line out on the Audiophile and then plug your headphones into them.
b) You could attach your headphones to the RCA lines out with a "Y" connector.
