hi everyone,

i'm wondering if others have encountered problems with this card having low playback volumes.

i have this card installed internally on my pc and i have the playback volume in the control panel at maximum and even so, playback levels are definitely lower than they should be. if i am using any players like windows media, winamp, realplayer, i have to crank them way up.

any feedback would be appreciated

thanks,
cyan

Hey, cyan.

I think I remember seeing something like this right when I first installed the card, but I think it was before I went into the Control Panel to tweak anything there.

Do you have "Monitor Mixer" selected in the "Patchbay / Router" tab? Did you raise the levels on both the "WavOut 1/2" and the "Master Volume"? This is how I have mine, and my levels aren't even all the way up to 0. I have one around -10 and one around -5, and I'm getting enough volume out of it.

HTH, :)

hi jeff,

thanks for responding
yeah i have those settings in the control panel but my overall volume only gets up to -16 at most during playback...... just doesn't seem right to me

hey jeff,

it turned out my windows audio settings were interfering - they were set lower and that was affecting the audiophile volumes - i was under the impression that the audiophile was bypassing windows audio settings but apparently not.

Weird...
I also thought that the Audiophile bypassed the Windows audio control stuff. I'll have to check that out on mine when I'm at my computer. Anyway, great to hear that you got it figured out!! :D :)

Bypass Windows Audio Settings

Hello,
Recently purchased this card myself... by default it was set to direct out in the patchbay, which actually bothered me because I *wanted* to use the windows volume levels to administer my volume.
There's a couple of out options in the patchbay - the one that says "windows" uses the windows volume, and the one that says "direct" bypasses that entirely. Unsuprisingly, the direct option is generally much louder than the other (not being filtered through the OS).
I may be wrong about the words "windows" and "direct", (I'm on the work machine, not the home machine), but it should be pretty clear looking at the settings in the patchbay.
hope this helps.
