Oh ho ho yes! I finally dug back into this and 1000 grit sandpapered the wheel... got some smeary greasyness off and hopefully roughed it up a little, AND GUESS WHAT HAPPENED!! I can play, fast forward, and rewind!!! There's some bad connections here and there in the mixer section, but that stuff is easy. SWEET. Thanks to everyone for your help and patience, I'd be glad to post some recordings once I get this thing up and running so everyone can hear how it sounds!

I just bought one from an old slovakian man for $90
2 VU bulbs are out but otherwise mint condition. Can't wait to get it going. Any tips from old users about how to get the best from this bad boy? Also how have people found the preamps and Noise Reduction on this machine???

After months of not working on it, I decided I needed to get back at it and finish this thing up. It will play tapes at mostly the right speed, but they are super warbly. Is this still a lube-the-motor issue? If thats the case, what part of the motor am I trying to lubricate?
