Audio Suite Gain Crash

Hi. I'm using Protools LE 8 with a Mac. I have been editing a spoken word session and using AudioSuite Gain to raise the volume of words that were not spoken directly into the mic. It was working great over the course of several days when all of a sudden the program began crashing. No other programs are running but Protools. Even trying to save the session causes the program to crash. Any thoughts as to why this function (audiosuite gain) would work great and now cause a crash? Ideas would would be greatly appreciated. I don't have a direct reason why it'd happen, but trashing ProTools preferences is the go-to remedy for the inexplicable crap PT throws at you.
If you're not sure how to do it, there's a tidy little OSX app that'll do it for you.

The author's site is down, but it should still be hosted here.
 
I wanted to amend my thread by stating that I ran some tests and it's not just the audiosuite Gain that causes a crash but applying any of the audiosuite functions--like Pitch Shift, for example. Nevertheless, I downloaded the Protools Pref & Database Helper 2.3; Which one do I want to run? The Protools Pref & Database Helper or Protools Pref & Database Helper for 10.3? Once I run the app, what does this do for me? Thank you!
 
It says on the site that v2.3 is for Protools 7-9, so run that one.
All it does is delete temporary files created by Protools.
These files might be preferences regarding your interfaces, I/O, layout settings, previous opened sessions etc.

Basically it sets ProTools back to how it was when you installed it.
It poses no threat to your sessions or plugins, though.

Just quit ProTools, run the app, and click the big button.
Now launch ProTools and see if it helped.

If not, let me know what error messages ProTools is giving you when it crashes, if any.
 
Not able to run the app. I get this message: AppleScript Error Is:/Users/kenrizzo/Library/Preferences/ProTools*Pref*:No such file or directory (1). This is definitely not my day. What else can I do? Manually reset Preferences?

Sounds like you ran the wrong version, or you ran the program twice.
