Hey!

I just bought my first edrums (Roland TD-9) and i'd like to record them. I'm really new with this recording thing so I need some advice. So apparently I need audio interface to record them. When buying that, what are those things I need from it and should be looking? Really confuses me because there are from 20 euros to thousands euros available in stores. Also I need some DAW, right? What programs you guys recommend for me?

Perhaps study your owners manual a little bit before rushing out to buy more gear. I believe the unit has it's own built in recorder and stores wav files of the recordings does it not?
I would think it would be easier to record on board then bring the wav file to the DAW of your choice for manipulation. It can apparently take a USB stick for memory.

If you do decide to go the route of an audio interface, be sure you get one that supports midi. That's what your unit uses.
There is a benefit to you using a midi interface would be the ability to use the drum kit to play virtual drum sound sets from various plugins. I don't know if the Roland unit is capable of uploading a different sound set too...something for you to consider before purchasing an interface.

There are several DAWS that offer free trial versions, or free lite versions. I suggest trying some of them out before settling on a paid version.

Do your research before buying anything. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Not knowing is a sure way to waste money in this hobby.

Roland -> Audio Interdace -> Recording Software

You can either connect your roland with a USB or a MIDI connector depending on the roland;s outputs and the interface's inputs.

For software download Reaper for free from their official page: reaper.fm
