Anybody know of any free audio engineering books that really go in depth in detail with engineering sound? When I say in depth, I mean REALLY in depth. I'm starting school next year and I want to be ahead of the curb, as I am already from experimenting/trolling, I would just like to understand more on how things work. Much appreciated in advance.

(Why free...? The free ones are rarely good, the good ones are rarely free...)

Look for titles by F. Alton Everest, Kat's "Mastering Audio" is a nice one (not necessarily about mastering specifically, but about audio in general).

In any case - What's going to help you is experience. Books are nice, experience is necessary. And with some of the things the 'schools' try to 'teach' you, believe me - You're going to want to know what you're doing before you get there.

Just look on the internet for articles...sound on sound website...wikipedia...etc etc etc
