Mixing and Mastering.
Could people wanting songwriting critiqu please please post in the Songrwriting part and not the MP3 Mixing clinic.

It is only fair if you post in the Songwriting clinic for songwriting critique.

Is this pertaining to people looking for lyrical help, or help on putting together music? I only ask, because when I first arrived here, I was told, in a not so polite way, not to post MP3's in the songwriting forum. "There is a fucking MP3 forum, you asshole. Post your fucking shit in there". Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. That's why I post MP3's in here, whether it is ready for a mix critic, or if I am just needing direction. I would gladly post a work in progress in the songwriting forum, if that is the proper place for it.

It would seem songwriting would be for lyrical purposes, and mp3 for lyrics with instrumentation, and instumentation. I see no harm in this. Until Mr. Dragon puts an extra forum for seperation, we have to make do with what we have. And DOG, did you tell whomever that was being so rude, to go fuck themselves? :D

I don't know if this is a real problem..... I think people who want to actually listen to something tend to gravitate to the MP3 clinic rather than the songwriting forum and that's pretty obvious to anyone who posts here. Also I think that if you want some honest ears that this seems to be where you go whether it is music or mixing related. I see your point but I don't think the people who may actually be a problem around here will heed your advice, and most of the regulars in this forum are going to stick around here regardless.

If you have an MP3 to post, post it here, unless you want specific lyrical help or song "structure" advice. Even then, I got no problem if it's posted here.

Good words from all.
I just dont feel that alot of the MP3s posted here for mix critique are getting as much feedback as they should.
I mean there are some amazing mixes I have heard recently that have only got a couple of comments. I feel they deserve more.
Maybe the Songrwiting clinic isnt meant for MP3s but It makes sense for song writing critiqe to go in the song writing clinic and not the Mixing clinic.
I know it prob wont change but id like to see it change.

I would gladly give more help....as soon as I learn more to do so with. I know I probably drive you guys crazy with the way I convey something, but it is all I have for now. And when I say I like something or it kicks ass, I mean it. I just get excited about the music. Whether it is flawed or not. I kinda like flawed to a certain extent. Has a lot of human charactor to it. And can sometimes be a signature sound. Just look at Yoko! :D :D

NO I think your comments are always true and fair and you can spot mistakes pretty well for a girl! :D

I got the impresssion also that the Songwriting forum was more for discussing lyrics, and that makes sense to me. About mp3s posted there... I think things are changing in how mp3s are used in many of the forums... seems like they're becoming more of a matter-of-fact part of discussions since the sound quality's good and they're easy to upload...kind of becoming a transparent part of communications for many.

I agree that many tunes posted here are quickly lost... page 2 is oblivion... well, even maybe the lower half of page 1. I see so many tunes that slide into that abyss with few or no comments at all... some days they're the first ones I tend to listen to, just out of wanting to be a nonconformist I guess. :D

Tim, surfing the outer limits on page 2

Yes Tim. Good points.

I admit that I don't go to page 2. But I have often found a thread sinking down page one without any response and will make it a point to respond to that thread. Considering how often I've posted my music since I started doing so only a couple of months ago, maybe I'm partly to blame for some people's songs going un-noticed. But I will be slowing down lately. I was putting a CD together and that is now done so I'm a little dry in the writing department. Because of that I've offered my drumming services to anyone who wants drums on a track. I do this because I love nothing more than to play music and don't want the fact that I don't have anything new to make me stop playing.

Also, I think people have different reasons to post here. I know that I don't post to "show off" my tunes and I don't think my production skills are good enough for me to have the false impression that there's anything to "show off". I honestly put up my songs because I know that every time I post something, it has always ended up being a much better song because of the comments I got. Others choose to post their songs here just because they do want show them off. Personally, I don't think that's what this place is all about, but it doesn't bother me that they do so...I simply choose to not bother with them. So, personally, I think it's ok that different people post their songs for different reasons.

So, if you have an MP3 to put up here for whatever reason, go for it and let people decide if they want to listen and/or comment or not.

I thought the Songwriting forum is for talking, and the MP3 Mixing Clinic is for listening.

So if I have something to say, I should do it in the Songwriter's forum and then rush back here to hear it??? :):):):):)

(sorry)
