I've been doing some research on the rp8's and generally the reviews have been good but there are still a few persons who are posting mix reviews. I am planning on purchasing a pair of monitor with some 8" woofers which can help me in making professional sounding music. I am kinda leaning toward the rp8's or the new mackie mr8's although the mackie's have not been released as yet. I am seeking some honest advice from persons who own rp8's. Bye the way I produce mainly dancehall, reggae, hip hop and r&b.

If you are referring to the KRK passive 8" monitors, yea, I had a pair which I sold. They were nice to work with but a tad boomy as some of the 8" monitors tend to be in that price range. Before you buy the Mackie boxes, you should check out the Adam A7 actives. They cost 1K no matter where you shop, unless you marry Adam's daughter! I got a pair about six months ago and they are certainly worth the extra bucks if that works with you. What you hear on them is what you get on the CD, and your mixing skill.

I bought Events to replace the KRKs and still have them plugged in but I do all the mixing on the Adam7s.

After testing both, I prefer the KRK6s to the 8s.

I came to the same conclusion, though it was years ago now. I have a set of the original trapazoidal passive 6" Rokits, and when I bought them, I A/B'd them with the HR8s or whatever they were. The imaging and the detail on the Rokits was better to my ear, so I happily spent a little less. Still love them, though I added a sub to add just a smidge more bottom.
