I bought a 48 port AP (ACE) patch bay. it adds noise to my monitors. is this normal?

hmm skaltpunk, not sure. maybe you just got a poor quality bay

I was just complaining about my AP patch bay in another thread. IMHO it is a piece o' junk. If I push a plug all the way into the jack, I don't get a good connection -- I only get it working when I push the plug in about 95% of the way and do a little jiggling.

I just noticed you're from Kalamazoo -- I'm from South Haven (but work in Kzoo). What kind of music are you makin' and how long have you been recording?

No, it's not........ more likely -- bad connection, or bad cable....

crazymonkey... i have the same 95 percent problem. haha. yeah i live in kalamazoo no longer. i am in grand rapids right now. i record mostly acoustic or indie-pop stuff. how about you? where do you work?

I was in Grand Rapids yesterday, purchasing a Neutrik patchbay. It cost me twice as much as the AP, but after plugging it in and having it work without all the cable-jiggling, I'm twice as happy, so that kind of works out. :)

I work as a computer programmer -- recording's just a hobby. I help pay for my recording toys by making live recordings of some of the small-time local bands playing in bars around South Haven, Paw Paw, Kzoo, etc.
