I know this is probably alot to ask but i'll ask it anyway. A friend of mine has offered to give my demo CD to a friend wohs Dad owns a fairly large local label. The only songs ive got completed are from about 2 years ago and the quality (of the songs and recording) isnt what i think is needed to make an impression. Now ive got my studio going im going to put down a few newer tracks to add to the CD. It wont sound like it was recorded on a $100,000 budget but thats not what a demo is about. The only problem i have is that icant record drums at home and i cant afford to hire a studio. Is there anyone out there who could maybe record some drums for acouple of my songs or give me some sampled/sequenced stuff. Sorry i cant pay you but you'll get amention somwhere. And wouldnt it be great if my band made it and you could say you helped us. Let me know if you can help, ive got a couple of weeks or so to spare but the sooner the better.
Cheers
Eddie

Is anyone willing to help out or is this maybe the wrong forum?

Hey cold ash,
I could do some "dums" forya. How you wanna 'em? Midi files? Whole tracks? Loops? empeethree? AIFF? WAV? I guess I'd need some sort of playback with BPM. Have you ever tried the rocket network? I haven't but they say that it's a way to collaborate globally.

Thanks jordo WAV is what im looking for or mp3 because WAV might be too big for me to download and i dont know where you could post a file that large. I'll try and get the first of the two songs on the web tomorrow. Its a rock song so thats what im looking for. I'll give you more info tomorro. Once again CHEERS :D

Huh?
Well heres the file. Its no where near finished but i though it would be enough to give you a guidline to add drums to. The drums should come in at around the 12 second mark. It was recorded at 170bpm using a click track so u shouldnt have too much prombelm getting it to sinc (fingeres crossed). The more realistic a sound you can get the better.

Well i thought it attached but it didnt. I'll let you know when ive got it up at nowhere radio(its ofline at the moment)

Standing by.....I thought the no flies on me thing was an Australian expression

I dont know who told you that but they were lying. I'm guessing your'e American. Its seems Americans have a very strange idea on Australians, eg that we all live in the outback and kangaroos are a common sight to most of us. The fact is most of us live in the city and the outback is a fair few hours away. I blame this on Steve Erwin, the guys a dickhead. No one (apart from him) is realy like that. The fact is we didnt even know who he was until about six months ago

No, i see your from spain. My bad. And my appologies to any Americans who arent anything like i describes. The one who do think like that can go get $%!&*@. :D

Yo Cold Ash,
I live in Spain but I'm one of those Americans with strange ideas and as far as I'm concerned don't worry about insulting Americans as it's one of my favorite sports. As far as the flies things goes, I met this great Australian dude here many years ago who kept us drunk for about a week straight at his expense and he had this red T-shirt covered with flies which read, "No flies on me mate" and according to him it was an Australian expression which in American meant "I'm cool". I know that Oz is a big place and maybe that's a local thing or perhaps has gone out of style. Maybe we should check with John Sayers about this.
waitin for yer toons,

Say Cold Ash,
I've downloaded "Letting Go". I'll get to work on it in the morning as by the time I get the drums up and miced it'll be kinda late and I could get into trouble with the wife. You did say 170bpms right? Any other pointers as to how you want this to go?
How about teaching me an up to date Australian expression so I can be cool and groovy with my acquaintences from Oz.

I'm no expert, but it's not a bad idea to include a click track on a file like that. In fact, a drummer once taught me to provide files for overdubbing with the music elements panned to hard left, and the click track paned hard right. Thsi way the drummer can separate the stereo file in his multitrack of choice, then mix the levels for the two as necessary.

Sorry i dont have any means to record a click track. At the moment im just recording the first track while listening to the click track through the computer speakers. I have a bit of an idea what im looking for as far as drums go but i dont know who to explain it (eg where i want what). I could go through a list at what point but i dont have the time right now. Let me know if that would help and i'll do it soon. Just as rocking a drum sound as you can get.
Cheers

No worries is a fairly well used Australian saying joro.

Say Cold Ash,
Well I tried. I tried setting a click track at 170 and it worked for about 20 bars +or- but then starting wadering and around 2:00 it was a whole quarter note off so I turned it off and just tried to go with the guitars which I didn't exactly always accomplish. I let the guitar do a 4 bar intro and the drum fill comes in on bar 3 but you could allways try to sync with the end as I cut off with the guitar. If you can convert to audio ya might wanna try chopping it up into loops and do the copy and paste routine. There's a better way to do this but I haven't cased it out yet. It weighs in at 7.2 m but if you want I could slim it down some. And above all if you think these drums sound sound like "dums" and decide that you jus' cain't diggem...¡No worries mate! I hope you find something you like and good luck with the demo!
