Anyone wanna do a collaboration recording?

BTW, I am still looking for feedback about retracking my bass...

And whether or not the harmony vocals (to be retracked once the vocal is on) are any good or not....

To be honest, I am not really digging most of the harmony parts. Maybe it's just the vocal processor, but it sounds like cats fighting in a bag. :D

I have some ideas about the harmonies that I'll try to lay down in the next few days. Once I get them figured out, we can decide who can sing the parts. It won't be anything overly complex.

Yeah, it was just something quick to sort of lay them out. I used the processor so I didn't have to spend too much time on it...
I'll wait for what you have...

I uploaded the vocal and acoustic guitar tracks separately to NL5s server if you want to try running my vocal through separately, or something. One is called "acoustic" and the other is "vocal."

I'll see what I can do with it. The timing on the guitar is a bit different than the collab, but I think I can work with it.

I deleted the other harmony track I put up. I am playing around with trying to fit the scratch vocal on the drum and bass tracks. I got it lined up, but it took some editing... I guess the final vocal will sound much better...

Purge, where are those guitar tracks??

Get off Angelina before Brad Pitt finds out and get it done!

Yeah, the initial scratch track you sent out was right at 80bpm, which is what I tracked my scratch vocal at. The newer drum & bass tracks are a bit faster, I think.

I think there was some confusion because someone stated in an earlier post that the tempo of the scratch track was 80bpm when it was really 85bpm.
Your vocal track sounds very good. Which type of mic and pre did you use?

Actually, there are two different versions of the scratch track. I have one that lines up perfectly in Cubase at 80bpm (I believe this is the first one that Rokket posted, very early in the thread). However, the one that came zipped with the drum and bass tracks was 85.

As for the mic and pre - Rode NT1 (old version) and Studio Projects VTB-1. Thanks for the compliment. :)

Okay, I've got all the guitar tracks "done" with the exception of the solo. Only problem is...I played these to Rokket's scratch track (timing issues with drums...sorry...) so I don't mind redoing these once we have a somewhat final version to go with. I will get these up today to see what you guys think. I have to sneak these up when the boss isn't looking...

Just thought of something...uhh...where should I put this? I can just drop it on Nowhere Radio. Or I need to find out how to throw it on NL5's server.

OK I added a click to the new drum tracks. Listen to the entire track. Some of it is on time but other parts are way off. There is a part after the 3:00 point that is so far off it sounds like he is playing a different song.
The track is "Timing Issues"

Well, I think someone else is gonna have to cover the drums. I'm not gonna have time for awhile, nor a drummer. If noone else does it within a week or so, I may be able to fanagle another drummer. Maybe we can get all the tracks lined up to a click w/o any drums - I know that will make it easier on whoever lays the drum tracks.

Sorry :(

Hey, no worries...the sound itself was amazing and I feel like a heel for even saying something--just couldn't get through a couple of the fills, that's all.

The directions -

FTP info:
address - nlrstudio.com
login - mp3@nlrstudio.com
password - upload
port - 21

If you don't have an ftp client, I recommend www.smartftp.com

Put it in the collab folder.

After upload, the link to the file will be

www.nlrstudio.com/mp3/collab/yourfilename.zip

He really is an awesome drummer, and he REALLY didn't like playing to a drum machine track. We always record a click, then record the whole band with the drum mics off and the drummer listening to the click thru headphones, so you get a scratch w/o drums, then record the drums with the click and scratch, and build from there. Also, both drum tracks were one takers - we didn't have the time to really make sure there were no mistakes.....

If no one steps up to redo the drums, I should have some time this weekend...
Scrubs... I listened to your initial vocal mp3 with the acoustic guitar... Impressive! :)

What if we were to use that as the scratch track and everyone start building from there?

If not, I can just lay down some 80 or 85 bpm measures that will follow the original roadmap from Rokket...

Like I said tho, I'm tight for time until the weekend rolls around... Unless I develop insomnia later this week or sumpin ;)

Okay, here's to hoping I did this right:

This was recorded to the scratch track from Rokket that did NOT have the sampled voice at the beginning. It should be easy to match up because of the delay effect. Comes in right after the 4 click count. Also, this is kind of an "unmixed mix" of 3 guitar parts, and if anybody needs, I can upload the 3 tracks separately.

I'd be happy to record this again at a different tempo if I used the wrong track. Also, any comments on parts that suck are more than welcome.

If everybody's good with this so far, I'll get a solo done too, unless somebody else is really wanting a shot at it.

Thanks! I have no problem with you using my scratch track to lay down new drums. Before you do, I think we need to settle on one tempo, though. Mine was tracked with a click at 80bpm, so it should be fairly tight (except for my crappy strumming technique). If 85 is preferable, that's fine with me, too. Anyone want to reach a conclusion on this?
