Anyone wanna do a collaboration recording?

What's my guitar part recorded at? Let's use that one!! :D

Nah, just kidding. Whatever works is cool with me.

I think the confusion came in with the seconds scratch track. I forgot which tempo I used on the first one, and I put the second one up when someone asked for it again... I am not even sure which one I recorded my bassline to......

If we can get that straight, then I can redo the bass to which ever scratch track we decide to keep. Either tempo willl work for me. Personally, I am leaning toward the version scrubs did (with the faster strumming). I would like it if he put his acoustic guitar in the mix....

Any thoughts on this?

Sounds good to me. How about somebody take charge and post a battle plan involving track recording order?

Well, my personal recording order is that I lay the drum tracks, then the guitars. I am not used to playing my bass to just the drums... If we could get the drums and rhythm guitar (clean) parts done, I can come in with my bass... It just helps me with the fills...

Alright, here's the plan (until it changes):

1) Tempo = 85bpm. Period.

2) BentRabbit will track drums this weekend at said tempo (unless, of course, someone else wants to give it a crack. all entrants submitted by monday will be considered! :D )

3) Could use existing guitar tracks, or retrack (whichever Purge prefers)

4) Could use existing bass track, or retrack (whichever Rokket prefers)

5) I'll track lead vox and possibly some acoustic guitar as soon as the basic tracks are set. I'll also lay down some background vocals, which we can either use or have you guys retrack the parts that you are comfortable with.

6) Tenkas (Keys), Darnold (Trombone), EdWonBass (???) or any others who want to contribute something are more than welcome to do so (speak now, or forever hold your e-penis  ). I personally think the track could use some selective keyboard swells to really build the intensity.

7) The song will be submitted as a PMC, unless someone wants to volunteer their mixing expertise.

Sound good? Strong work, team! Break!!!

Otay... I will retrack the bass after the drums and guitars are done.... :)

And I agree with the keyboard swells....

Someone took charge..... :D

NL5, can you check which scratch track is the 85pbm mp3 and delete the other?

Perhaps you should delete everything except that, so we don't get confused about which is which again....?

2) So are we talking about 5 days wait on the drums?

5) I want you to do an acoustic guitar track. If you can, using the same chord shapes I did for the introduction. PM me if you have any questions on it. I will do the acoustic guitar if needed, but yours sounds better than mine (mostly because the guitar only cost me $60.00, and I don't have a decent pre amp).

7) Along with that, I want to mix my own, for the practice with mixing live drums...

Well, I would say that's what we'll have to do, unless someone is able to track drums sooner. I'm not trying to dis NL5's drummer, because he obviously can play (and the recording quality rocked), but there were some noticeable problems with the fills that have already been pointed out. If you guys want, I can lay down a new scratch track at 85bpm with a click, so tracking can proceed from that.

Anyone suggestions are welcome.

Ok, but name it something other than "collab scratch", so we don't get confused and grab the wrong one (call it "done with you"?).

I sat down to tinker with it last night, but all the original scratch track links(Rokket & NL5) were orphaned... :(
I was able to pull up Scrubs mp3, but since it was done at 80 bpm, I figured it wouldn't be prudent to record something there, just to have us all start over (again)... ;)
I'm thinking I may be getting back to the house at around 9:00-ish tonight... I can probably put down a straight 85 bpm track then... Since the original scratch tracks are now gone, and unless Scrubs has the new vox/acoustic tracks posted, can someone post an outline of the song's perceived structure? (ie - 4 bar intro, 8 bar verse, 4 bar bridge, etc.)

This is really a lot easier than we're making it look... :D

Yeah, you'd think we were a band or something given all the squabbling. :D :D :D

After work, I'll retrack the scratch at 85bpm with a click (8-beat count in), acoustic, and vocal. I'll upload it to the server sometime this evening.

Is Bentrabbit going to be able to do acoustic drums?

No acoustics,

But with my TD8, I can separate the kick, snare, toms and cymbals onto individual tracks...
When my TD10 arrives (by Friday at the latest :D ) I will be able to fine-tune the separation pretty much down to each drum... But with the 'ballad' nature of this collab, I'm thinking a representation of Kick/Snare/Overheads should work out pretty well...

Unless everyone would rather go with pure acoustics for the mix?

WOOHOO!! We have a plan. As soon as the drums come up, I'll get those guitars going.

Nah, give it all you got.

New scratch track is done. I put a .wav on NL5's server

it's called: done_with_you_scratch_85.wav

(please download it quickly, so he can get it off the server)

mp3 is available on my Soundclick page:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/4/antipodesmusic.htm
I can't get to it until about 5 hours from now. Can it stay up there until then? Also, it one stereo wave or two separate tracks?

Just one stereo wave (click+guitar+vox). About 40MB. I'll leave it there as long as it's cool with NL5. He is gracious enough to host these files for us. I don't want to hog all his server space.
