Anyone using ST Audio C-Port DSP2000 with Win XP?

I'm winding down my current audio project, using a Gadget Labs Wave 824 card and Cakewalk Pro 9 under Windows 98SE. I would like to migrate to both Sonar 2.0 and Windows XP, but the Gadget Labs has no drivers for anything past ME, and probably never will since the company is out of business.

I'd like to sell the 824 on E-bay and buy a replacement that works well under XP. What I have been eyeing as a replacement is the ST Audio C-Port DSP2000, which looks amazingly like the 824 and should be a very easy integration into my rig. I have noticed however that Musicians Friend advertises that the unit has drivers for Win 2000 but not XP. More worrisome, the ST Audio web site seems to have vanished, or at least is down any time I have checked.

Is there anyone out there using this unit? Does it work with XP? Do you like it? Is the company going to go bankrupt the day after I buy it? Or maybe has already?

Inquiring minds want to know...

staudio/hoontech isn;t out of business as far as i know, and the website works just fine for me..http://www.staudio.com/

cports work just fine under xp.. i used one under xp and i have a partner that uses a cport under xppro now with SX1.05.. vs the gadget.. you'll hear a difference.. the gadget is a nice card though..

Thanks.

Yes, I have absolutly no complaints about the Gadget Labs wave card. I'd be happy keeping it for a long time if it worked under 2000 or XP. But I want to get out of Win9x, so... its gotta go.

WooHoo....

I was just gonna post this question, won't have to now :)

I have a cport running succesfully under XP (pro, but that's not relevant). Their site seems a bit spaced out the past two weeks, but the www.staudio.de is always a good alternative, and they're always the fastest in having new drivers if there're any.

Be sure to do your chipset homework carefully though. There's a great site by Skinah, the Australian support guy about clikcing and popping with the ST-Audio cards:

Good luck with your card!

Dead Poet, thats a nice site for sure. But I didn't find anything about pops & clicks with ST-Audio cards.

I use and used the card with success on a board with AMD761 chipset and now on a VIA KT266A. It seems things to avoid are SiS and VIA from before the KT266A (which is the KT133 and KT266)

i've been using the c-port with win98 for over year and it has been flawless. couldn't ask for anything better. according to their forum, many people are happy running XP.

just make sure your motherboard's chipset is one that they recommend using! i found out the hard way.

do you guys have any clips of the DSP3000 M-Port in action? how do the pres and everything compare to an aardvark q10?
