anyone using JoeMeek ThreeQ??

i'm having trouble with it
the manuel it comes with is like totally weak. so broad.

there're so many question i wanna ask, but i will stick to the one i concern the most first.

when i plugged into the preamp, it supposed to boost up the volume right. but then the background noise will be ultimately loud. so i wonder, does a preamp always need to be worked with a noise gate or something?

if u get a preamp, is it a must to get a noise gate?

No, you shouldn't have to use a gate. Are we talking about background noise in the room, or noise generated by the preamp. The preamp should be relatively quiet, except for the very extreme gain settings. I think the ThreeQ recommends that you boost the mic signal with the preamp gain only to get a decent signal, and use the output gain to bring the level up to near 0dB
