hi.

im wondering what the most common solution is to over loading your PC with VST's and effects, specificly Guitar Rig. my PC maxes out at about 6 or 7 effects for a song. does anyone have a way around this without bringing a 2nd computer into the picture?

CPU loading solution

Hi

Two possible solutions:

1. Make sure you have enough RAM. On my windows PC I was only running 512 for a while, it was really bogging down when I ran a lot of VST's. I upped it to 1 gig and it's liking that so much better. It may not just be a CPU issue, it may be a RAM issue.

2. The second is adding a DSP card of some sort. I just got into my store a bunch of these Universal Audio UAD-1 CARDS . They are running a special until the end of March, 2005 and I think they are a great deal. Now, they won't run your Guitar Rig, but you can use it for the other effects like reverb, compression, eq, etc. which would leave more CPU room for the Rig. Check with your local dealer for a demo.

if you can, try using some of your effects as aux send effects and don't insert them directly into the channel. I had this problem when I first started using Cubase.
