Anyone mic a snare from inside?

I have pieces of a dynamic cardioid mic that I took apart to fix another mic & I was thinking about putting it inside a snare drum & putting an xlr connector on the outside of it.

Has anyone tried anything like this?

Point it at the top head or bottom head? I know some drummers mount a kick mic inside their bass drum for easy micing.

the snare sound is made at the bottom of the snare, but the beat comes from the top... I've never heard anyone do this before, so it would be interesting to hear

Why don't you rig it up and try it?
