Double pedal techniques?
I got the intro tape for ballistic drumming and it really didn't interest me, so I never ordered the course.
I use an old Yamaha double pedal and I was wondering if there were any special techniques because I find the response time on the slave pedal a bit sluggish. Well I've gotten used to it, so no problem.
The advice above was excellent, and you can really just learn it on your own. Try practicing without using your hands for a while, then gradually play patterns and practice switching from your slave pedal to sock pedal. This is how I originally learned it when I played double kick drums (in way that was easier because both pedals felt exactly the same).
You will eventually get fast and comfortable with it, but a word of warning----do something interesting with it. Don't just play a steady onslaught of rapid 16ths with your kicks, it will muddy up the music. I usually switch to the slave pedal to play a pattern or burst as an accent and then it's back to the sock pedal. I've even gotten rid of the drop clutch from my sock because I don't ever use it or need it.
