Got your E'

Thank you.

So, what in general are you looking for?
I'd prefer not to ship larger and heavier items.
Is why I specify SoCal and LA County. Better for pickup.
Smaller units maybe ok to ship. Determined on a case by case basis.
Most items are v-low use. Some items like-new.
If you're interested in non-working fixit items, I have those too!

:spank::eek:;)

O/T... Off Topic / Other Topic

I also have some digital recording gems, new cassette & new and used reel tape,... if it floats your boat!
:spank::eek:;)

PS: Of all the stuff loaded in those photos, it may be only 3/4 of all the gear I have. It all simpy wouldn't fit in frame in one room!

LOL, I usually end up driving up to LA to pick up a good deal of the gear I have acquired so far, so if I need to do it again its no big deal. Im set for 24 track tape machines (might even consider thinning the heard), two track mastering machines (need to loose one of them too). I mention them as they may be trading material, who knows.

From your pictures it looks like you are board intensive! Im set in the studio with currently 80 channels (its a sickness...), but I could see a small portable mixer to go in the field with to capture some "garage stuff".

Im also set for about every type of media recording/playback device for archiving or whatever, but Id like to upgrade from my Tascam 112 cassette to a three head machine.

What Im focusing on now is outboard gear. Looking specifically to populate a dbX rack with 904 gates, I have a few but need more. I a looking for a couple channels of compression. But always interested in what is out there. Broken stuff doesnt worry me too much, I actually like going back to my tech roots now and again.

You mention tape? Always looking for more 2" and 1/4" ampex 499 or equiv. Ive got a project coming up where I am going to need to DAT cassettes too.

Well that is a starting point.

Wow! Dude! You're the Man!

And I mean.... WOW!

OK,...

I have a few Tascam M30 8x4x2x2 mixers, as well as an M312 (12x4x2), which I wouldn't say is "small", but it's all relative.

If you want to go lo-pro I have a couple Fostex 350 mixers, (8x4x2) both of which need a little repair and TLC. One mixer got the meter bridge broken off it in shipping, and the other mixer has a couple bad channels from either bad caps or someone ramming a preamp output into it and burning it up. Both mixers together would provide one working one, if you're technically inclined.

Quick n Dirty is the rackmount Tascam MX-80 8x2 mic mixer and Tascam M-1B 8x2 line mixer. With a pair of TASCAM PE-40's (fully parametric EQ) is a formidable rackmount system. Alone or together they are nice units.

There is the fabulous not to be duplicated Tascam 688, which includes an 8x8x2 mixer with midi/menu soft-select and records 8-simul to cassette tape.

Not small but worthy of mention is the Tascam 388. Much has been said and detailed on this forum about this fabulous 8x8x2 mixer recording 8-simul to internal 1/4" reel tape drive. Portable but easier as a 2-person lift.

I have a Tascam 32, Fostex E2 and Fostex Model 20 mastering decks. I can't remember if the 20 is 2- or 3- head, but I think 3. I'll verify upon request. ** VERIFIED 3-heads in Model 20 user manual. I also have a Fostex A2 that I took apart to refurbish but never put back together. A DIY'ers dream!

I have one 14" reel of 2" AGFA 468, New, never used. Been stored for years in a cool/dry place. I got it on clearance from a pro tape warehouse way back in the day. I'd gotten it with intention of acquiring a Tascam ATR-80 to use it on, but actually never happened. (It's been so long that I think that's the model number! Cant' remember exactly.) Until you've seen it, you may not appreciate how BIG a 14" reel of 2" tape really is!

Oh I know how big and heavy 14" reels of 2" tape are. I have a tascam ATR-80, it and the pair of SONY apr-24s are 14" capable, that is why I selected them. Same with the Otari MTR 12 1/4" machine, 14" capable.

Tonite I'll cuddle up with the laptop and research all the models you mentioned and see what happens.

Thanks for the rapid responses!

I guess I should ask if your collection of mixers includes any that are capable of running on internal battery? i ask cause when I go garage recording I use a Nagra and I love being tether free...

No Battery Op mixers here, that I can remember,...

but I just remembered I have a sweet little Tascam M-06, 6x2 mixer.
Pictured is the M-06st which is very slightly different than the 06 std, minor differences I've not clearly determined.

Speaking of small mixers,...

virtually any of the Tascam Portastudio 4- or 8- track recorders have very nice and capable mixers that can be either routed and recorded to the internal tape drives, hence the name "Portastudio", or bypass the internal recorder and route the mixer signal to some other outboard recorder.

You're sophisticated enough user that I need not mention that, but I'm just tossing it out there.

I'm a huge fan of Tascam Portastudios. Almost goes without mentioning.

:spank::eek:;)

PM sent, you may have answered that a while back though. (A-8LR?)

A8LR is a unique gem, but...

I'll consider any reasonable offer. Thanx!
(PS: I'll be researching comps and my original purchase prices for this gear ASAP)
:spank::eek:;)

Ps:...

I still get a lot of inspiration from you guys who are hanging tough!

If I could gather my wits and ambition in one time and place I might make another recording someday!

:spank::eek:;)

Dude,

I have been acquiring/fixing/breaking/fixing broken gear/fixing gear I broke/modding gear/moving gear to other side of basement, and realized that, I can't play some of the songs I used to play and I don't have any new material. I actually sent an email to a guy I knew in high school and asked for contact info for another guy we used to know so I could ask that guy the name of a girl who showed up and jammed with us once, so I can give her credit for a melody on a half finished song. I'm reaching that far back for material....

Yeh man, I hear ya!

For sure!

Thank you guys for your support!

Updates:
- I've found some incredible stuff while going thru boxes.
I have brand new 1/2" 8-track R/R & Erase HEADS for Tascam 38, still in their Tascam baggie with Part#
I have a brand new 1/2" Pinch Roller for Tascam 38, still in Tascam baggie with Part#
I have brand new 1/4" 8-track R/R HEAD for Tascam 388, still in Tascam baggie with Part#
I have various NOS 4-track Cassette Portastudio heads, not sure what models they fit ATM.

- I've been going thru Paypal records on email archives to collate my original purchase prices for lots of this gear, dating back to 2004.
For purchases prior to 2004, I'll have to dig thru bins of personal papers for eBay printouts.
I know street price varies a lot, but I need to know for my own purposes these costs vs. anything I manage to sell.

- I knew this intellectually, but going thru records indicates I bought a TON of stuff and virtually never used it.
All was properly stored in climatized indoor environment, and therefore is good or v-good cond & low use equipment.

- Some stuff I bought unfortunately was damaged in shipping, was mostly cosmetic but still works.
A hard hit to take, but those are the breaks! Most of these I'd prefer to sell as imperfect working units.
I may eventually cross a line to where I'd want to part them out, as yet TBD.

- Some stuff I bought on the cheap as non-working fixers, but never got around to actually fixing them.
Could be a boon for the real DIY'er!
I'd like to get back to a place where I can have a functional tech bench and fix this stuff again too.

- Inevitably, some of the most sought after items that people may want to buy are also items I'd be most interested in hanging on to.
Some unavoidable irony there, but I'll consider any reasonable offer!
I'm trying to be realistic about my actual recording "needs", vs my "wants".
With all the gear and media comes a realization it may exceed my recording capabilities well beyond my natural lifetime.

- Gotta learn to crawl before I can run. I've always been the gear buyer. Selling is new to me. I'm making an honest effort.
I am not the incorrigable gear whore that some may think of me.
I got here over 10 years of well intentioned frivolity.
I'm first and foremost a musician, artist & home recording/producing hobbiest and die hard fanatic, trying to regain my focus.
I'm not a collector for the sake of collecting. Not a keep-it-under-glass-display collector.

-----------------------------------------------
I'm just tossing these ideas out there. FYI. Thanks for reading and/or following my posts.
When I've exhausted this venue & gotten more organized, I'll be hitting the hardcore eBay/Craigslist scene.

Good Morning!

Funny?

I once had someone trolling me pretty hard on this board, many years ago.
After viewing pics of my studio, he likened it to...
[para]... "the ultimate dumpster dive of yard sale rejects"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was just the tip of the iceberg on how I was trolled and harassed here and on other boards by this person.
In the turnaround, he was banned in many aliases, many times over.
Some named members here remember this from 2005.
My real i'net friends rallied around me at the time, and I've always appreciated it.
I'm not sure if he calmed down and has stayed around since then.
I remember his most recent and most reasonable alias, tho I've not heard or seen him lately.
I'm not really sure what initially ticked him off that provoked him to troll me to begin with.
I am still here, for the best of reasons and with the best intentions.

... just a funny aside that just came to mind ...
