Ok, with a little research,...

I've determined that this formerly hostile member who was trolling me so hard in 05 has stuck around as a very reasonable member since then, posting mostly benign and reasonable posts.

I'm not sure what got up his ass about me, but IMO it's that he's a former "pro" who came gunning on this board with a severe outspoken disdain for anything not "pro", be it Tascam/Fostex "pro-sumer", 1/2" 8-tracks, anything cassette based, Porta-Anything, etc. I remember the battle cry of [para]... "anything less than 2" tape isn't 'real' analog!"

You know, it takes all types, and IMO there's room on this internet for people of all preferences and opinions, but for the life of me I can't figure out why I incurred so much of his wrath initially. But hello!... this is a "home" recording board! Fortunately, tho' it was a memorable time for me, I don't hold a grudge.

Just more random thoughts I've had, maybe O/T. YMMV!

Dude, had to backtrack here,...
I have a Fostex 3070 stereo compressor,... I think is a pretty nice unit. FYI.

DAT? Man you are Hard Core!
:spank::eek:;)

What are you looking for, in regards t the compressor. Im looking into the Agfa tape you mentioned. Seems its a little unique in biasing. Im all set for 499 and dont want to recal when I use a different tape. The Sonys store three different alignments per tape speed so not as much of a problem there, but the Tascam would require a realign each time, I think Like I said Im still looking into it.

Likewise, I'm still looking into it.

I would like to first find my original purchase price, then compare that against Prepal collated averages, and come to something reasonable, as yet TBD.
Thanks, (I'm) it's a work in progress!
:spank::eek:;)

Hey man, I'm pretty new here and haven't posted a lot, so if you're not comfortable dealing with me, I won't be at all put out, but just thought I'd try anyway. PM sent. :)

244's vs 424mkIII's, etc.

I've determined I have (5) 244's, but some have very serious issues and would be fixit units. I also would prefer to keep one working 244 around for sentimental reasons and maximum compatibility with my legacy tapes.

I've determined I also have (5) 424mkIII's, which I'll be honest when I say I don't quite know how I ended up with 5! All are in working order, with 1 having a known minor flaw. I'd probably feel more comfortable selling off a 424mkIII or 2 because I generally have more confidence in them as newer, lighter and more easily shipped items. Newer items will stand a better chance of giving longer trouble free service life right out of the box.

OT, the 234. I have a few of these but would have to verify which ones are working and which ones not. I'd also prefer to keep one working unit myself, but of the ones that may need TLC would only involve belts and worst case minor rubber parts.

I've been working feverishly, going thru countless Paypal receipts to determine my original purchase prices, which I'll take and bounce off Prepal averages, to come up with fair and workable prices.

Thanx!

I took some pretty cool pix last week,...

Hello again! I've cleared the first hurdle!

All,... as many of you know, it's been quite a personal struggle to let go some or all of my equipment. However, life changes and circumstances force me to do just that. I never fully went thru all my purchase records for reference, but I have a pretty good idea of what I paid and what is fair. Much of this equipment I will sell at a loss, just to move it along.

The first item has hit Craigslist, Los Angeles area, cash and carry.

TASCAM M312, Vintage 8x4x2 Mixer - $250 (Palmdale)
Tascam M312, vintage 8x4x2 mixer. VU meter lights don't light, but otherwise it's clean and fully functional. Versatile signal routing/monitoring and warm, vintage sound. Large & heavy item. Palmdale area pickup. Will not ship. Cash and Carry. Thank you.

Damn!

Sorry to see you letting go of many of your toys, Dave! :(

Sure love to get a couple high res shots of the M-30 and M35 for the wallpaper thread. Care to send me a couple without the flash and the dust? :)

Cheers! :)

I don't really want to let any of it go. I'd like to use, myself.

But, I've taken a serious financial downturn lately, & my house is full of the stuff to the point of being over crowded and not functionally accessible. I never saw these days coming either, but here they are despite it all. I think you, GFM, may understand my issues best.

I may have a chance to snap a few better pics of gear as I go along. I had offloaded an assload of stuff to an offsite storage unit in AUG, but now for financial reasons I have to close that out and move it all back into the house and garage. The financial pinch is real and immediate. Otherwise I'd just hang onto it all. Most stuff I've had for many years.

The M30 shot I think is harvested off eBay, and not my own gear. None of my stuff is dusty! I had the photo on my HDD and it was fast and convenient to use it, as is. More photos to follow. NOTICE, the previous stuff I've photog'd myself is all clean and well kept stuff, as well as creamy, smooth eye candy pics! More to follow!

Thanks again!

Yeah, I understand all too well. Sold off all of my stuff when I got laid off and no one knocking at my door to offer me work. You do what you gotta do to survive and hope the sale goes well for you and helps you to keep your head above water.

Cheers! :)

...

I have been out of work over 19 months, with no job prospects and my unemployment payments dropping dead at the end of December. I'm divorced & have child support payments to make monthly, (6 kids), as well as a large cash property settlement yet to pay off.

I seriously never saw these days coming 10 years ago.

Hey how much for the 38 relate parts? (heads, pinch roller, belts) etc. good luck with the sell!

...

I have not priced out the small parts yet, but I'll keep you posted.
I'm trying to move the bigger stuff first.
Thank you!

Hey,...

Any of you guys have opinions on whether to list this stuff under "electronics" or "musical instruments"?

On Craig's List?

Definitely under Musical Instruments.

The electronics one might only be good for the purely consumer electronics stuff like a straight stereo cassette deck.

Cheers! :)

How about both? Here in C.L. NY you see tape machines under both musical instruments and consumer electronics. Even "antiques"
