AUDIX D3
This is what Musicians Friend is saying about it :

"The secret weapon for getting killer sound on stage or in the studio, it’s quickly becoming the industry standard for miking a guitar. Handles 144dB without distortion or coloration."

How good is this thing? Any experience with it?

I've used the Audix d-2 extensively on guitar cabs, toms, and snares. I used the D-3 on one project and didn't find much of a difference in sound on guitar cab as compared to the d2 - I guess it just has higher spl's, as the quote suggests.

Whether you look into the d2 or d3, these Audix mics are simply the phat ass bomb!! They are really great. They sound much better than the sm57, and this is coming from a faithfull member of the Shure Church. :)

I was first introduced to this mic when I worked at guitar center's pro audio dept. I tried them out in my spare time and found that they just sound nicer, clearer, and more natural than the sm57. The reps also told me that they made the d2 in particular with the intentions of making it an all purpose mic that would cater to the needs fulfilled by the sm57, but better. It is much sturdier and smaller, so that if you're using it on snare or toms it does not get in the way. Come to think of it, the compact size is a huge benefit!

Anyway, the Audix Dseries mics are awesome. They are a top recommendation on my behalf.

yeah cool. I think I will swing by g-center and pick one up. Never hurts to have another mike!

i'll post a review comparing it to the 57 once I use it this weekend.. thanks
