Congrats A1MixMan

A1MixMan-

Congrats on buying the 103. Yeah, Neumann shock mounts are relatively pricey, and almost never included with a mic package. Glad you like it though. It'll serve you well on many things.

A1MixMan, congrats on your new toy!! Know you're gonna love it. Wise choice getting the shock mount too.

$699?

Where did you find one for $699? The cheapest I've seen is Samash, for $750.

I bought it from Mars music.
Not the web site, from the store.
The web site shows $749.00.

Ahh ok

So with tax and everything it was prolly $750 ish anyhow..ok thanks :) Now if they have a matched pair for $1400 then we'll see :)

If you apply for a Mars charge card your first purchase is 10% off.
So I really paid $629.00 for it.

Then I paid $159.00 for the shock mount!
Got that at Guitar Center.

You also need to register as a business, then you're exempt from sales tax. In my state, that's 8%.

$599 ebay seller

I just picked one up from Altomusic, an authorized US dealer, on ebay for $599, Buy It Now. Used it on a session tonite actually, they said they sold 10 during the week at that price. Might be worth the search if your shopping...HTH

woo

I got one I got one..wait I got 2 :) They gave me a 2nd for the same price..cool shit :)

Now I gotta work double shifts @ UPS when I don't have studio work going on, but oh well, I'll drop that 20 lbs for New Years :)))

I woulda rather TLM193's probably, but still Neumann is g0d.

Thanks for the mic placement info

Michael Jones,

Your info will be a great help to me as I'm recording a recital (piano/soprano) in a few weeks. Unfortunately no TLM 103's, I'll be using a pair of Oktava 012's for the piano, a C-1 for the vocalist and an Oktava 219 for the announcer.

Thanks again

Hey, glad it was of some help. Be sure and post your results here. I'd like to hear what you come up with!

just for kicks

Just for the helluvit, pick up a pair of those Behringer ECM8000's, and stick them as a stereo pair for the room, and mix that signal in with your spot mics..that will give more of an authentic classical sound to the recording..they're $35 each
