Living in wexford mate and you? Had a look about didnt hear good things about that mic but maby im wrong i think i wil go with the naiant xq for acoustic and still stuck for the vocal mic

The Se is an all rounder but I use it mainly for vocals. I have a Behringer C1 mic sitting in my press. Its was my first mic, I hav'nt used it in ages but it was working perfect last time I did. I'll send it to you if you want, I'd rather see it being used than sitting in a press collecting dust(its in its own case so dont worry there will be no dust on the mic) Its only a cheap mic so its not the best but its not terrible either. It dose the job on both vocal and guitar. It will give you some time to do more research and save up for the one you eventually want to buy. I might even have a lead for it.

Heres some reviews on it http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/5107-behringer-c-1.html

I'm from Co Limerick living in Co Clare for my sins :). PM me your address if your interested in the C1

As Toonertik said, the absolute best way to select between different mic's is to do some test recordings.

That is the worst way...go to youtube and search the mic...listen to it in videos...nobody buys and resells mics till they find the right ones.

Nice one Raven..that way nickey can begin to get a handle on recording and sound etc and find some things out for himself.

darrin
...really, still doesn't tell you much just listening to someone else reecord a source you don't know in an environment you don't know, and still won't inform you if it's suitable for your voice sound source and pref. matches your pre-amp/interface..

"nobody buys and resells mics till they find the right ones"..not sure wot u mean here?

You can go broke doing that...its not like you can buy one and take it back if you dont like it..you buy a mic...you are stuck with it.

Um.. don't think u read wot I said properly ,cos I didnee mention buy the thing..NoNo go to shop have listen wiv own voice( re nickey,s voice in this case), compare few in stock to get feel for the mic..

"If you can get to a semi pro shop like digital Village or others, if your serious it is worth hearing the mics"

The way it is arround here is that if you want anything decent...you have to order it in...and you are stuck with it...some things you can hear yourself with at the guitar center...but they dont really carry anything good in the store...most everything I have is better.

Sad really but that's the way it's going...though if we hunt here in uk there r places that do carry stock..2tryb4buy, and even a few that carry the boutiquey hypey gear LOL.

When I started to get sortta serious about audio again in 96 I drove to distributers and test listened to even the wee Joe Meek vc3 pre b4 cashing out.

If I see JoMeek anything it is used...Id probubly consider an EQ of thiers if I found one somewhere.

Can I make a suggestion..Get an older unit one that was made when Ted Fletcher was there..not sure but i thnk they went bust, then re-born minus Ted.(google for history think 99/2001or02 ish). Ted was (i believe) the guy that worked with Joe on the orig gear in 60's, he then got involved with a uk co called Alice, who made lots of good accessories for mainly the broadcast industry and broadcast consloles.

Thanks guys for all the help its really appreciated your a good bunch of guys
