Perhaps there's a problem with your ad, description, photos, worn out machine, too high a price etc ... ? Any chance of seeing your ad ?

how much are you selling it for and where are you located in socal?

i have few friends that might be interested.

Hy all, So I read the new topics about some new Otari 8 track machines that are being made?? Anyone have an idea of what this will do to the old machines as far as value goes?? Also if anyone might be interested, I am lowring my price on craigslist for my Otari to 300.....just thought I would put that out there :)

One can speculate about value (of old) when new machines are introduced but the answer is dunno. One never knows what's going to happen. It's not like eveyone will dash out to buy a new one. Many will still do the eBay special and others will fork over the money for a new recorder. There will always be a market for older, used gear and I see values holding well, at least for the good stuff. But I can't say enough about the benefits of getting a brand new recorder, if one has the budget.

I looked at the ad and have a few suggestions. First, it's a little too wordy. Too much info. The subject could use an edit. I'd also strongly urge removing the current photos as they degrade appeal of the ad. Try either to post new, better ones or just don't post any if you don't have the means. Here's what your ad should look like and remember that most who are reading likely know what this recorder is or can do:

OTARI MX-5050 1/2 inch 8 Track- - $350

Powers on, the motors work and the lights come on as well. I don't have the means to test further. As with any vintage gear, it may need to be serviced due to the nature of the recorder's age and electronic / mechanical drift over time. It works but it is sold "as is". You are welcome to view and test the unit yourself. Serious buyers only please. Local pickup preferred. Make me an offer.

Well well, I suppose my guy sold his to another person. I called him for directions on the day we agreed for the appointment but there was no answer. I left a few messages but haven't heard back from him. Pretty disapointing!
