One word: coprocessor.

I hope it happens. There's no reason in a multiprocessing system that preemptive multitasking shouldn't be a solvable problem... As soon as anyone has a realistic Linux solution available, I'll be all over it. I cannot _stand_ Windows, and my arm's-length relationship with it is getting mighty strained here lately...

I asked about the BSA

Thanks for the info. I'm such a lughead that I forgot what that stood for, even though I just finished a good book written all about the proprietary software industry called "sofware conspiracy".

Dude, I'm right there with you on that thought. If cakewalk made a pro audio 9 version for Linux I would be soooooooooooooooooo happy. Something like that would allow Linux to totally rock as far as audio is concerned.

Whoever brought up win4lin,

I did some research on that. Just about everything rocks EXCEPT FOR applications using the directX architecture. It seems nobody has been able to crack that barrier yet, and audio editing and gaming are all about directx on the windows platform. SO it is great for everything but audio and gaming.

I had no idea that this thread was going to turn out so good, Thanks everybody, Silver
