I have one of those little ROLLS 4 headset amplifiers and sometimes I have a real bad time with this thing clipping or distorting at higher volumes..

Whats the problem? Anyone else have these type of problems?

the problem is, that it's a crappy little headphone amp with crappy electronics and when you push them, they will distort

I agree.

Might I suggest a Oz Audio headphone amp. I bought one 3 1/2 years ago, and this puppy rocks!!!

I has 6 headphone outputs, with each output being able to seperately blend a stereo input with 4 Aux inputs. This way I can send a stereo mix, and then induvidual instruments on the Aux's, and each six persons can add as much of the Aux signals to the stereo signal as they want!!! Very cool and versatile.

This thing is built like a tank, and the electronics in it are very high quality. All for a bit over $200.

i dunno if this is just me, but my headphones (some AKGs) have a shortish cord. and i just picture 4 people standing around a headphone amp about 5 feet from eachother clanging guitars and going deaf from the crash cymbal. are any of your headphones longer? or do you make extensions?

what type of headphones are you using?

i have a RANE 4 headset amp and with my AKG phones, at louder volumes, distortion occurs. i don't have this problem with my SONY phones.

in my case, the issue is the impeadance of the phones. the SONY's produce much more DB's/mVolt than do the AKG's, so the SONY's are louder for the same voltage output.

yes I have both akgs(2) and sonys(2) and it happens ocassionally on all of them so it has to be the amp. I will definitely upgrade this as soon as I get a chance.

Crate makes a good headphone amp. One of the studio modules. Only stereo input's but it's clean, and it's small, 5 out's and about $100. It dosen't have much gain though. But plenty loud nonetheless, you couln't use it if you were The Who, but for me it's great.
