I just bought one and it didn't come with instructions. It has 4 jacks marked Input, Output, Return and Send. It seems to me that I should plug the guitar into the one marked Input, then go out from the one marked Send to the other stomp boxes, then into Return and Output to the amp. But, that doesn't seem to work. I've been to the Boss web site and that's no help at all.

Would somebody please tell me how to use this damn thing?

I would put it as LAST in your signal chain to get rid of the noise from the pedals. Input from pedals, output to amp. Don't mess with Return and Send unless you put it in your effects loop.

If you have a more complicated setup, you would have to elaborate so I could suggest a better place for it.

Did you put it after your effects pedals?

I've heard very good things about the old Hush pedals. Too bad they don't make 'em anymore.

Firebird,
I'm a huge fan of Boss pedals and have been thinking of getting some sort of noise eliminator, how would you rate this one now youv'e had a play?

Well, I haven't really used it enough yet to rate it, but so far it seems to work very well. You have to set it up in a loop, the guitar goes in first then out to the the other effects, back to the unit and then out to the amp. This way it has a signal from the sorce and it will cut out all the other noise.

i have the ns-2 and you had it right at first .guitar to input output to amp the send and return act as an effects loop inside the ns-2 ,but it works the other way also that is the way i have it hooked up in mine .....but it still doesn't tame my Boss compressor, still get buzzzz from it ......my 2cents

That's the problem I'm having. If I use enough NS-2 to get rid of the hum, I lose all the sustain of the compressor. There just doesn't seem to be a good middle ground.

i have this same unit........

and i only use it for the highest gain stuff.......

if you had a seperate preamp-amp setup, the best place i've found for it is between the master output of the pre, and the amp input......

that way, the compressor still does it's thing in the front end of the preamp (or the effects loop) and then all you have to do is get the sensitivity of the suppressor just right......

it's all a compromise , though.......

Yes it is. About half the time I just say screw it and I plug right into the amp, but some songs just seem to need that little bit extra something.
