Anybody for some tapping guitar?

Thought I'd try something new for a change. I'm used to fingerpicking acoustic guitar but decided to break out the Telecaster, since I have it, and try some tapping. Guess what I'm trying to get at is, 'Is this kind of thing any good and should I continue writing this kind of stuff?'

Never heard to much of Stanley Jordan music before. Guess I'll have to look him up and see what he sounds like. Chet Atkins I do know. That might be a stretch to comparison this to him but I do appreciate the compliment. Thanks.

Dude, this is pretty cool. I'd say keep writing like this.

The playing is just wow! I mean everytime I hear stuff like this, I remind myself that if people just turn off the distortion, lower the volume, and actually, the guitar is a pretty deep instrument. Mostly, these days people just crank up the guitar, turn up the distortion and just hit power chords.... 2-note power chords.

This is very skillful. I'd definitely listen again to something like this. Keep playing and rockin'.

Thanks for the comments on the playing gentlemen. I think I'm going to try to write more than just the six or seven pieces that I have now.

I'm not really a great fan of distortion. I think that is from my acoustic guitar background. It has it's place, but for things like this, I really don't think it fits the style.

Thanks for confirmation and words about the playing guys.

I could see this being done on the bass. I think it actually sounds like I'm doing more than I really am. Or it might just be from almost thirty years of fingerpicking that makes it seem almost simple.

Tim, I believe with your prowess at fingerpicking you could do this kind of guitar without much problem. Yeah, the low end on this is from the pedal I'm using. Some days I remember to tone down the bottom and other days I forget to reprogram the thing. Guess I should just go ahead and save the setting when I get the EQ right.

I liked the reverb... the buzzing was annoying at times, but the playing allows that stuff to be acceptable from recording to recording....from time to time... or whatever I meant. I mean, the playing is good enough to overshadow any faults.

I more or less picture the guitar on your lap like a lap steel rather than you holding it in typical fashion.
