I've just purchased the new Korg D1600 digital recorder. My good common sense has gotten me pretty far in the learning curve. The machine is actually pretty incredible and quite easy to use. I need to know if there are any tricks I should know about when it come to recording tracks, and/or mixing down to CD-R.
...and, is this machine capable of producing a radio ready CD with its mastering effects? Or, should I have the mastering done by a professional outside source?

You should get the software update for your D1600 which makes it a D1600v2. With your v2, you can export wav.-files on CD-R/RW, record multiple CD-R's, and it's a better-looking track view.
In the beginning, I was stupid enough to not record (bounce) to two tracks with the mastereffects turned on. Also you should use your locators (1-2) when you're editing tracks (scrubbing). It saves you a lot of time...

...and the update-file for your Korg is to be found on www.korg.com. How to install the software is described on page 139 in your reference manual.

If 2 months can be considered a veteran, then I am. I love my D1600. It kicks ASS!
