Are there any plugins/software that can tell you what freqs. are to loud and what not.

I know its all by ear but I want to be able to see if my mix are sounding good and level.

Plus it can help me in the mastering process with a 4band compressor

you want a spectrum analyzer

brainspawn makes one that isn't very expensive. I've been using it (DirectX) for about a year.

...Well, in SONAR 2XL, I just put Timeworks Eq on the master, go see Graphic Mode, set everything flat and there I can have Spectrum analyzer for free... Not that good, but at least I can figure which freq has been overloud. Whenever I suspect ones, solo each track to see which boost that freq in particular time. Edit the block then. Whether lowering the level, or just hilight and edit the peak. Or use Multiband compressor to that track...

I don't know about ProTools, but most PC multitracking / sequencing apps have native spectrum analyzers.

Well, you'll maybe be able to see where your vocals are showing the most energy, around the 2k range, and yank a db or 3 out of the rest of your mix and boost the vocal 1 or 2 there and... wait... vocal space! Wow.... neato!
I like Spectrum analyzers, cool tool.
