for its price you could do much better........

the Marshall MXLv67 and the Studio Projects B1 are $79......

...unless you are going to do the Royer (Mojave Audio) tube mod...:D

Speaking of the v67g I just got my first chance to record a vocal
and acoustic guitar last night with it and yes my hearing is not
what it used to be. But I have a couple of descent mics that cost
a lot more than the v67g does and I was really impressed with the way this mic sounds. I could have save my self alot of
money getting one of these first.

Great mic! for 100.00

I've got one and it is ok...not fantastic, but not bad. Most people around here seem to bash the mic pretty hard as being a real dog. I have recorded a fair amount of vocals with one, and posted in the mp3 clinic, and never had any comments about a bad vocal sound.. (not performance now!!). That kinda opened my eyes up to what people hear and what they wanna hear.

Possibly I got a "good" one and the most others DID suck due to inconsisitant quality amongst the mics.

I think the package of the 2001 and the 603 seems like a fair price at $150 all over the place. That seems to put it on par with all the other $80 mics, pricewhyzzze.

anyone out there who has "hot-rodded" these? Was it worth it? Which mod did you do/get.
