I played my Mexi-Strat yesterday and it sounded okay. Tonight I play it and the low E and A strings rattle. They’re hitting the frets at the bridge end. Must be atmospheric changes? It looks like I could put a shim under two of the neck screws and ever so slightly change the neck angle. People say a guitar won’t sound as good or sustain as well due to the lost contact of wood between the neck and body. I don’t want to file or sand the frets if I don’t have to. Any opinions?

why don't you just adjust the truss rod and add some relief to the neck?

monty, with what you've said in the past about he way you adjust your guitars, I wouldn't know where to start. I'm not saying that you're wrong, just that it's nothing like the way I do it.

Is there no height adjustment left in the bridge saddles?

My thought exactly. Seems like shimming is the exact opposite of what you'd want to do. If the strings are buzzing in the high register, it beacuse the neck is too straight or maybe even back-bowing.

Allright. Why hasn't anyone made a joke in this thread yet?
