hi,

i'm new on computer home music recording and want to record several instruments at the same time.

any comments on this?

No comment here, I don't use it and never will.
n-Track fits my needs perfectly.

HEAR HEAR!!! :D

N has always served my needs, I've never looked at another woman... err... I mean program. :p

but seriously...

Does powertracks have a trial version? If so, try 'em both out and let us know which you prefer, I'd be curious to know what the actual differences are...

n tracks rocks

while many people use power tracks, i like n some people drive fords, some drive chevys

I have both and i use N-Track.....

the only drawback of N-Track is its midi and i rarely use midi....if i do, i sequence it in a different software and import it in to N-Track......

PowerTracks isnt bad, but N-Track is better....

better...?

How is N better than Powertracks?

Is it overall...every aspect?
Easier to use?

Sorry, and I don't mean to bog you down with a over-lengthy explanation, but it's been a subject I've heard much about of late, it seems.

mullin. the best thing is to try both and see which you prefer.
ive used n track a lot in the past , and for audio its very good.
but so is powertracks. if you need a lot of features for midi, scoring, lead sheets , notation editing, vocal pitch correction and harmonisation
then you should look at powertracks. in my opinion powertracks also excels in the audio editing area. a nice feature built into powertracks is the drum machine in software and the ability to do quick drum tracks.
just try both and form your own unbiased opinion.peace.

manning, I appreciate how you kept your normal pgmusic spamming to a minimum :D :D

how many tracks does n do?

are you asking max tracks for n or powertracks ?
n theoretically is unlimited. you keep going till your computer
starts gasping. powertracks limit is 48.
but in both n and powertracks you can mix to stereo.
start a new session, import the previous stereo mixdown
and continue adding tracks.
most packages you can do things this way. peace.

I use Powertracks. I don't record much real audio with it but it makes a great MIDI sequencer. What audio I have recorded didn't sound bad at all.

I mostly use Powertracks because my dedicated music computer is a real lightweight.

I don't know what the system requirements are for N track is, but I'll wager they are higher than PG's Powertracks.

Mine runs quite well on a 200Mhz CPU running Windows 95.

The latest and greatest!

I always update when the new ones come out on the cheap.

The paultry system requirements are the first and last reason that I have been using PowerTracks for years.
