... or something like that, called 'Revolution #2.'

I never thought I'd say this, but I finally got the dirty guitar sound I wanted by going DIRECT (through some pedals). Who would've thought?

So, if you're feeling truly patriotic:

And when I learned that a chick at work plays the violin, there was no choice but to get schmaltzy:

This sucks, I want to check out peoples' music, but I have no internet connection at home, and no sound capability on the machine at work- and no way to transfer large files from the PC at work to the Mac at home. But as soon as I figure it out, reviews will be forthcoming...

I would love to give a listen, but neither of the links work. I havn't had much luck listening to stuff from lycos and I dont think anyone else has either. Try maybe gettting them hosted somewhere else.

good song, but...

Nicely recorded track. However, I'm awfully glad the attitude of the song regarding the war against terrorism is in the minority!!!

Well performed as well. Nice style of playing.

Man that song is cool!!!!

Hell fuck yeah. That song rules.

>>>> Let's be glad that the view of the song is the minority<<<<, man... I am from Georgia (Southeast USA) and so I know exactly what kind of neckus rosasious people are down there in dem damned ol´sticks, watchen da city folk up in Atlanta that wish dey was all sum Yankees too. War is just... man never mind. I know that it is drilled in your head that war is "sometimes" the answer. my father crammed that shit, his father crammed that shit, and all the way back to when the "Southern Gents were fightin der own kin folk" in the Civil war that shit was crammed in everyones mind. it simply isn't a good solution EVER. The best way, and ONLY way to win a war... is to prevent it. And the United States foreign policy is a shit storm of bullshit. And if you don't believe me... fuck walk over to a map, stick out your nicotine stained finger and point it to Switzerland and then you will see what a foreign policy should be. None.

Sorry fur dem sware wurds,

P.S. honestly, as chicken shit as it must sound for me to back out by saying this.... I honestly and from my heart am not trying to offend YOU as a person. Only the collective view of the people from my home land. I was raised from birth in the South and I love that place more than any other place on this Earth. I just know that the United States Military is made up of over 85% people from the South east of the USA. Because the people there are under-educated, poor, black, or come from a long tradition of military men for the same reason just listed. It makes me sick that so many good boys have died because they were raised in the US Militaries farm land. And I mean that both literally and figuritively. Because that is exacltly what the south is. When they turn 18 the US military pickes em from the vine cause they be ripe. makes me want to fucking puke in my soup.

So really man... don't read what I said and think I am talking directly TO you. I am talking to anyone that will listen to see that those boys up north and in Washington have been running the US straight into a shit storm for decades and they don't care as long as some ol shit heeled red necks will whipp over there and die, just because they don't much other choices back home.

Peace man

Mike

What a cool tune! I would like to hear this come on the radio on my way to work, but I probably won't; it's such a popular war and all...not like the Viet Nam era when it was cool to be against death & destruction. Stick to your views, just remember that Discretion is the better part of valour.

Re: Man that song is cool!!!!

Hmmmm...I'm glad you weren't referring to me. Even though I'm from the south. I don't smoke. I also think that shitstorm or not, whether its volunteers from the south that make up the most of our Armed Forces (which I think is bunk...I was in the Marines and...well...I spent my time *mountain climbing* at PI with some dark-green Marine recruits that all hailed from Brooklyn) or recruits from the moon itself...they are VOLUNTEERS and are offering up their LIVES to protect our right to argue safely in this BBS. So no matter where they come from...they should be afforded more respect than your post suggests.

Frankly, I could give a damn about our nation's foriegn policy save for the war on terrorism. Some gutless murders attacked us on our on land. ALL of our rights (including the right to make music or write anti-war songs) were assaulted on 9/11. In Afghanistan, Iraq or Iran or even Saudia Arabia you can and will likely have your head cut off in a public square for writing anti-Islamic tunes...or anti-jihad songs or...well hopefully you get the hint.

God Bless America!

Number one...

The fact that no one gives a damn about the US foreign policy is the reason why we have "gutless murderer's" crashing planes into buildings. No one cares!!! I love America. Actually I love the IDEA of America. Un-restricted person freedom, free speech, and all the other ideas that those guys in wiggs came up with 226 years ago. So like I said... I love America. But I just simply can't stand most Americans. I mean, I am an American, and of course I love my family and friends, and I love the American people 75% of the time. I love the American work ethic, I love the oppertunities that the American people provide each other, and I love the fact that Americans help each other, even when they don't have to. But the whole, "Frankly, I could give a damn about our nation's foriegn policy", attitude will 100% deffinitly, without a doubt, what will make the "great empire" of the USA fall.
The King that pays no attention to the people he rules, will most likely not rule for long. The US has enjoyed a good 100-150 years of economic and military supremecy. It could last. But as long as people, "Frankly, don't give a damn about the US foreign policies", the US is on a fast track to watching the European Union get tighter, China, Japan and the south pacific getting stronger and stronger. And then suddenly the gas prices will be creeping up so that Americans are finally paying what the rest of the world has been paying for the past few decades. And when our leaders want to stick military bases all throughout Europe, and whre ever else we feel like it... those places will just say, "Uh NO!" go home yankees, and take your fast food with you. Those Yank-tank cars like my Ford Thunderbird back home will begin to look like those Euro-mini-cars that they drive here because they get good gas miles. And eventually countries will just not pay so much attention to America. We are obsessed with war and sticking our noses in everyones back yard, and have been for decades.
Our national anthym is a fucking war song!!! The entire song is about how good we can "whoop ass!" "Gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there...i.e "We are still up and whoopin ass!" And "God bless America?" I love America, but what does God have to do with a government. Christians from Florida to Washington and from California to New York pour into churches every Sunday and learn that God loves his children all, and all equally... and then they run our and get into their cars with "God bless AMERICA" bumperstickers. So I guess my European girlfriend doesn't deserve that beautiful blessing.

It is all a big joke, and I have been overseas for quite a while and believe me... people know what is up over here. People see us for what we are... and guys... we are a fucking joke. They may eat McDonalds, and listen to Britney Spears... but trust me. The only people that want to actually move to that time bomb, are people that live in shitty countries where they still believe that America = freedom and happiness. Everyone else is afraid that America is going to distroy the world. And if we don't stop "Frankly not giving a damn" about our foreign policy... then your children might be in the next building that has something fall on it, or at the next concert that explodes, or on the next public bus that mysteriously crashes or explodes.

And about the whole VOLENTEER thing.... It isn't too hard to talk someone into volenteering for something that promises "all that the US military can give a young man" when you grew up in a working class dead man's town.

I love ya brother... but we got to change or else.... well I just don't want to think about it.

Peace

am I afraid of America...
yes kind of...

I just wanted to say that it has been nice reading posts in this this bbs that show that there are lot of intelectual individuals in your country and not all are patriotic rednecks....

Things like 11.9 don't happen with out of a reason...

I love the song

<<I love America. But I just simply can't stand most Americans.>>

Then give up your American citizenship if thats how you feel. Become a citizen of wherever you want to live. I doubt the USA will be one whit weaker without you.

<<then suddenly the gas prices will be creeping up so that Americans are finally paying what the rest of the world has been paying for the past few decades>>

So we sould feel bad that the rest of the world taxes the hell out of gasoline? That's the fault of the USA?

<<I love America, but what does God have to do with a government. Christians from Florida to Washington and from California to New York pour into churches every Sunday and learn that God loves his children all, and all equally... and then they run our and get into their cars with "God bless AMERICA" bumperstickers. hmmmm in what way does the statement "God Bless America" indicate ANY hit that Americans don't want God to bless anyone else? How can you honestly suggest asking for God's blessing for my country the USA means ANYTHING untowards your girlfriend? I can't wait to see the answer to this one hehehehe

<<But the whole, "Frankly, I could give a damn about our nation's foriegn policy", attitude will 100% deffinitly, without a doubt, what will make the "great empire" of the USA fall.>>

Hmmm so throughout the world US policy has included flying planes into the homes and businesses of innocents to make political statements? Our overseas policy forces women throughout the world to be treated as cattle (as the Taliban treated theirs), forbidded them from getting an education or working for a living? We actively forbid people from practicing their religion of choice here and abroad?

<<And about the whole VOLENTEER thing.... It isn't too hard to talk someone into volenteering for something that promises "all that the US military can give a young man" when you grew up in a working class dead man's town.>>

Wow...you mean serving in our military gives our young people a chance to serve their country and see the world plus get a nice nest egg for college...is a bad thing? A chance to become a responsible adult with self-dicisipline and an understaning of how to work well with others towards a common goal...wow, how terrible it is hehehehe

<<Our national anthym is a fucking war song!!! The entire song is about how good we can "whoop ass!" "Gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there...i.e "We are still up and whoopin ass!">>

Yep, freedom is not now, nor has it ever been free. Again, if the values that make the USA greatest place to live in all the world offends you so much, renounce your citizenship!

<<2) >>>ALL of our rights (including the right to make music or write anti-war songs) were assaulted on 9/11. <<< >>

You never did make your case on this one hehehe...I wanna see how this is a bad thing too hehehehe

Rock on and God Bless America

God Bless Birthcontrol

Well I guess you got all your bases covered. Nothing I can say to your arguments. Water tight my friend. I must have been a fool to ever question anything. I should just join in with the rest of the Red White and Blue guys and gals gathering down in Wal*Mart parking lots across the US to chant Hyms and pledge allegiances.

But before I do that I just HAD to ask you one question... Do you honestly in your Americanized heart believe that the reason gas is so expensive in other countries is because it is taxed so harshley that it HAS to be so expensive?

When you were off seeing the world, and getting that nest egg for college, you should have #1. actually talked to some local people in those worldly places, #2. taken a fereign cultures class in the community college you attended after your tour of doodie.

Then maybe you would have a more complete picture of your/our government and the opinions people have of it.

I don't blame you... you are just a product of your environment. Just forget the whole thing, bruch me off as another "America hater, go back into your hole, shut your eyes, and continue feeling safe and secure in the good ol` US of A. That is, until an inhabitan from some village that your country blew up decided to kill a couple thousand of your country men.

God Bless the World

I disagree. It seems to me that really bad things happen to people who don't deserve it all the time. Sometimes life is just one big test of faith....

I think it's cool that a musician can post an antiwar song that spurs a lot of political degate (sound familiar?)

Although I think that Fish's statements are as reactionary in favor of his point of view as the biggest flag-waving American's are in favor of his, I don't think he deserved a "fuck you".

Oh yeah, the song-- made me smile; really reminiscent of a 60's Country Joe psychedelic folk-rolk sorta thing. Probably a little too chaotic and distorted-- I know that is intentional but it gets so that you can't hear the song.

Cool, I see the song topic stimulates. Personally, I'd prefer to have this argument carried out as a musical MP3 war. Better to go the route of Art- making the explicit implicit- rather than vice versa with philosophy.

Nothing wrong with being patriotic, I feel sorry for those who got confused along the way and think it's a dirty word

knocking people who serve our country in the military is just plain bad policy. boo.

Our Boys

>>>>>knocking people who serve our country in the military is just plain bad policy. boo.<<<<

You are right. If I came off as knocking the guys in the Army then I should have tried harder to make my point clear. I have NOTHING against people in the military. I am not some draft dodging, wanna be hippy that spits at our soldiers. Here in German I bought a copy of "Der Spiegel" (like TIME magazine here) just because it had a picture of one of our guys over there in full gear standing all alone in that wasteland, with this PERFECT expression on his face of strength. I didn't even care what the articel was about. I just bought it for the cover. The article turned out to be good as well.

Anyway, the guys in the military are all cool in my book. I sure as hell am not doing it, so they have my respect just for having a pair. (if you know what I mean.)

However, their "Commander in Chief" and his puppetiers along with anyone that is in favor of killing imoscent people in revenge for someone killing our innoscent people, should actually go see someone die. If you have ever watched a person slip away right in front of you... and you still have the blood thirsty... "Get those towel heads!!!" mentality, then you are a sick person. Not a sick American, not a sick military man... just a sick PERSON. These impulses are, very unfortunately, very natural. If I punch you in the face, are you just going to walk away? Shit no! But this whole Alpha male, light em up and watch em burn, is left over barbarian instincts that, hopefully through wars like this one, will be evolutionarilly phased out. And in 1000 or so years (hopefully less) there will only be stories in history of when people used to actually kill each other.

I guess I just sound soft to you guys. And I assume that coward, and all kinds of other "chicken shit" adjectives are popping into your minds as you read this. That is a pity. It doesn't hurt my feelings personally. It is just such a pity that people kill each other. Either in bullshit terrorist attacks, or in retaliation there for. There will always be those that hate the United States. Either out of jealously for our wealth, just plain mental illness, and also (and come on guys....) because the United States has a foerign policy based on the theory, "If you help us, we help you, if you are poor and have nothing to offer us... then you have to do what we say." We will help countries like Afghanastan during the cold war, because it pissed the Russians off. Then when they left, so did our "such loving help." We protect countries that have oil, for obvious reasons. We honor agreements when they suit us, and when they don't we back out or change the rules til it does suit us. And the sick thing is... American love that. It makes us all feel good and proud that we are "strong enough to pull that kind of weight." I have heard so many people back home saying shit like "Well, that we'll just have to go in and set em straight." or "If you mess with America you're gonna get hurt." So all you shut down play ground bullies can just enjoy your Rambo movies ( particularly like Rambo 3 HE WAS HELPING THE AFGHANASTANIES!!!! How freakin ironic), but just please don't pass that garbage on to your kids.

Oh yeah

Oh yeah... and WIDE AWAKE...

You are the coolest one of them all. "Pisces, Fuck You!" I am sure Walt Whitman would be astounded by your strong grasp of the English language. You make your family and your country proud. I recommend you for the Pulizer. (It's a prize.... you know, for people that can write good, and stuff.)

Can't wait for the response to this one. Hope he can read it.

Mike

A plus !

I really enjoyed your song, the subject matter of the replies is intensely interesting. Your song has evoked some pretty strong emotional reactions from people. Some are almost irrational. Your song must have been effective in its own way to get such reactions. Peace brother, Silver

Yes I am. Thanks for noticing asshole.

Re: God Bless Birthcontrol

<<I must have been a fool to ever question anything.>>

When did I ever call you a fool or any other name? I didn't and I won't. I'll let your words speak for you.

<<Do you honestly in your Americanized heart believe that the reason gas is so expensive in other countries is because it is taxed so harshley that it HAS to be so expensive?>>

My heart has nothing to do with it though I deeply love America and EVERYTHING it stands for. Gasoline IS taxed at a markedly higher rate in ALL Euporpean nations than it is in the USA. I know this from speaking to many citizens of European nations on a daily basis. It's not a big secret. It's a well documented fact.

<<I should just join in with the rest of the Red White and Blue guys and gals gathering down in Wal*Mart parking lots across the US to chant Hyms and pledge allegiances>>

If thats what you want to do. In America you CAN do that without fear of governmental reprisals. Just another reason why its not just worth fighting for...its worth dying for as well. Btw..since when is it a bad thing to feel patriotic? Or is it just bad for Americans to feel good about their nation?

<<When you were off seeing the world, and getting that nest egg for college, you should have #1. actually talked to some local people in those worldly places, #2. taken a fereign cultures class in the community college you attended after your tour of doodie.>>

And you assume if I had done these things I would suddenly see things differently??? Guess what, I did do ALL of those things and continue to speak with people on a daily basis all over the world (da internet is a very cool thing hehehe) and still feel the same about my country and defeating terrorism.

<<Then maybe you would have a more complete picture of your/our government and the opinions people have of it>>

So does my opinion of how the government in France have any meaning to the French? Or, Egypt? Or Isreal? Not very likely and nor should it. Hence I shan't likely care what other countrys think of the USA.

<<I don't blame you... you are just a product of your environment.>>

You seem to think you know a great deal about me and of all America. Do you know what my degrees are in? Can you tell me what kind of car I drive? Do you know what color eye's my wife has? How do you know I am the product of my environment? Hmmm...do you know where I was born? Do you know where I've spent most of my life? Do you know how to form a G-chord on a guitar? Do you know what matters to me in my heart of hearts? Do you know how many years I've played music professionally?

I have yet to accuse you of anything and I won't start now. I haven't called you any names, nor have I sworn at you. I will however, continue to respond to any misleading or factually incorrect statements you make.

God Bless America and after evil is killed and removed...Peace on Earth for all that wish it!
