Hey guys, I'm looking for a new interface for my comp (currently have a behringer mixer), and a set of monitors. What I would like to buy is the firepod recording bundle, which comes with the Firepod, a pair of Fostex monitors, and then a couplea mics/stands/cables which I'm not specifically looking for, but would be good to have. Here is the link to musicians friend:

Unfortunately, they don't ship this product to Canada, and I can't find comparable prices here (for example the firepod is about 485 here vs 399 stateside, and haven't seen much in the way of packaged deals), but I was wondering if anyone has overcome this situation before, perhaps by shipping it somewhere in the US and then shipping it from there to Canada? I'm close to the Niagara border, and could even pick up from there if there is some commonly known method of shipping to a holding place. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

You could try contacting a UPS Store. Many locations maintain P.O. boxes but that could cost you. You might be able to make arrangements with UPS and/or FedEx to allow you to pick up at one of their locations.

Another thought would be to ship it to a hotel. Make reservations, have the package delivered a day before your "arrival date", pick up the package then cancel your reservations. A "last minute" change in travel plans. That was dishonest as hell now wasn't it? :o

I live in Canada and have been considering selling my Firepod, but I need to find some other Firewire interface first.

Why don't you keep an eye out on eBay? Firepods go for dirt cheap on there quite regularly. I'm sure you could find another set of monitors in Canada. The Fostex monitors aren't all that great anyway, from what I've read.

you have a friend in another country who could receive it and ship it to you? I do that to evade...uhhh I mean to lessen the blow of Canadian import duties all the time.

I live in Thunder Bay, Ontario which is 40min from the Minnesota border. I have my parcels shipped to a store which is just across the border. Even after claiming it and paying tax it's still worth it. You might want to see if there is anything like that in your area.
