Probably the best one to listen for nuances would be "Amends." This is the softest of the songs. But to get more of an idea, listen to all of them. I just want to see what some of you pro engineer types will say...

Cheers.

With over 500 mikes on the market, plus those "great undiscovered karaoke mikes at Wal-Mart", this should be easy.

I'll guess the Nady SCM900.

i think the vocal clip has a little more top end than a WalMart mic....maybe a Target or K-Mart......

SittinIdol-

This would be better if you gave us a choice of mikes to choose from......maybe five.

How many of you got the hi-fi version? It sounded fine to me...
I'm not sure about the mic... I'll guess something by Marshall - one of their cheaper LD mics, like the MXL2001. No idea, though.

OK, here are your options...(everyone who's guessed so far has been wrong)

1. Neumann U87
2. Shure SM57
3. AKG C2000
4. Rode Classic
5. Studio Projects C1

Let's hear your votes....

By the way, the rest of the signal chain: ART Pro MP preamp, into Delta 1010, processed with Waves effects.

I don't know which mic(s) you used, but you definitely have too much 'verb on the vocal!

Bruce

A shure C87-classic.
Correct?
No, ummm...
a Shure RODEo 2000...
no, wait...
that is DEFINATELY an Elux or a Brauner. I'm positive.

see above...I wrote a list of 5 possible options. That's not one of them.

Please!
I'm still not done with my ear training at 24/48K.

Im goin hungrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy.... I thought that song came out 10 years ago.
I think we need to let creed fade away. That sound has gasped its last dying breath.

:D

Ladies and gentlemen the amazing C1 miracle mic. What wont it do.

sittinidol, if youre going for an airy open sounding mix you can accomplish this with wide panning, letting the textures move from closer to the middle to further out instead of all that reverb. I think I would lower the early reflections and cut the highs on the reverb on the guitar (and overall mix) substantially. Thatll give it an open sound but not be as noticable and not detract from the overall presence, realism, and up frontness of your mix.
