Hey guys,

This is a song that I recorded and mixed on an analog borad (I guess it's a Soundcraft 6000 or something like this).
Can you guys comment that? Not the music :) only the recording.

Overall, I think it sounds great. Guitar and drums are excellent - they sit very well in the mix and they sound nice, fat & wide. I can't hear the vocals as well as I'd like to though.

Style of music sounds a bit like Tool, and their vocals don't stand out much either, so that may have been what you were going for, in which case I think you've accomplished it :) I just personally like to hear the vocals a bit more.

Out of curiosity, what were you tracking to?

I tracked into two of those old ADATs black faces... :(
Then mixed to CD-R.
Thanks for you comment!!!!

...nothin' wrong with the old stuff. You got a very good sound out of it.

one thing I noticed ... is I have not yet heard a vocal sit well when the guitars are so upfront... also hard panned hi-hat bugged me a little... actualy last part of the song seems different somehow ... the vocal is more up or something... hm... i guess you need better ears then mine for this one... :) but there is my two cents... I might have more thoughts later...
cheers

Not a problem Fed. Actually, thanks for you comments. I do agree about the second part of the song. I don't even know what happened, I recorded it a looong time ago...

I kinda think the gits could come down just a hair. The lyrics could stand out a little more. Not bad though.

the guitars sound nice, but dominate the area where the vocal sits. ..drums loose their definition too. some wide panning with the synth ear candy... stereo might be nice, even if delayed and panned. HH and cymbals like to jump out too. A little harsh sounding. those are my first negatives....many less than the many positives...

You have some very heavy guitars on there. It sounds like the vocals need to come out a little bit to compensate and balance the guitars. That would be my only feedback -- imo --

Good tune and great playing!

I know you said you didn't want music comments...

so sue me.

Cool. Somebody said "Tool." I hear that...with a little "System Of A Down" thrown in. I take it from your post that you can't (or don't want to) change this...so I won't make my musical comment...(about how those backup vox at the beginning almost prevented me from listening to the rest of this REALLY GOOD SONG).

Man, this is really well done. I'll be asking for help from you in the near future...(but not on vocals... :D :D).

Thanks for the listen,
-chris

Recording sounds really big.
No complaints here.

I know you didn't want any comments on the music, but I really dig that little keyboard sound you have thrown around in there.
Nice touch!

Best to you,
Pete

Hey guys, I'm really happy that you liked the way the song is sounding.
I had another band that I recorded that I post the link to their mp3s here in this forum, and almost everybody felt like the recording was small, digital and lifeless... let's say.
I recorded and mixed this band here in this post with an analog board, I had some clark-technik compressors, some dbx 160 (1) and... an Eventide... and, I don't remember what else more...
When I record on my studio, I track thru my analog board and mix into PT. Do you guys think this is what's making my mixes small...
check out my other recordings here and tell me what you guys think... I know some of you might have listened to the other songs already... let's compare...
I know the musicianship in this song here is muuuch better then the songs on the other link... let's talk...
thanks
