I am waiting for my new (to me) RE27ND toarrive in the mail. In the mean while I have been doing a little research. I have heard the 27 is brighter, and looking at the frequency plot bears this out. Interestingly, however, it looks like the frequency response of the 27 when the high cut isengaged is nearly identical to the RE20. This would be handy - to have both flavors accessible. Anyone that has tried both mics have any thoughts on this?

Hey mandocaster turn on 97.9 in the morning every dj in there is using the re27nd...

Thanks, I will.

Are you involved with the station?

I really liked "Take You Home" even though I am not a YBM.

I am a MAFWM - middle aged white fat man.

I have owned and used both mics. I sold the RE27.

It's hard to describe exactly what I prefer about the RE20, but it's there. At the risk of using fuzzy terms to describe sound, the RE20 has a certain wonderful thickness to it that the RE27 didn't.

i don't own a re20

most people that own both seem to prefer the 20, but the 27 is an excellent mic all the same. i love mine and think that if you rate it on its own merrit instead of aganst the 20 you'll find it indespenseable.

i almost always use it with the hi-cut on, i think that is why it's built in.
