Thanks for the advice Mike, I was looking at an large condensor, not sure why now! I'm not the best vocalist, infact i detest the sound of my own voice, but its what I've got and others seem to like it, so i'm going to stick with my the SM58 for vocals now, and had wondered about getting a couple of SM57's instead of a LDC, I think you've just convinced me. I played about with the BR800 last night and was suprised at the quality of the built in condensors anyway. To my ears they werent too bad at all.
Armistice (Acoustic Dave) ..no worries mate you can happily retain your title. I'm neither famous nor acoustic (except when I'm hungry and the belly sounds like a kettle Drum!) so dont really suit either of the tags. and thanks for comments on recording too.

Dave - I'm glad to hear the sound of the built-in mics has been improved. The ones in the 600 were ok to start with, but the marked difference of even an inexpensive dynamic mic was really noticeable.
Like you, I don't like my recorded voice, but found it did sound better switching to a condensor from the Shures. I tried micing the acoustic wiht a 57 and 58 one time, one pointed towards the 12th fret, the other to the bridge/soundhole spot, but didn't find it any improvement over a general 15th fret pointed 57 by itself.

Mike, On reflection dont take what i said about the built in mics as a gauge, I have very little experience of condensor mics and really wouldnt know how good they actually are, they just sounded so much clearer to me than I'm used too. I've just ordered a SM57 which I know is always going to be a safe bet. As for LDC for Vocals, I'll get a bit more experience and knowledge before I start throwing the cash around. Thanks for the advice.
