Alrighty. Had a thread last week a little similar. I have access to another computer with an mbox which i want to use the spdif out into my Onyx 400f to get two more channels of input. The computer running the mbox has pro tools LE while the comp with the onyx runs Cubase. I use the cubase one, the pro tools one belongs to the band i share this room with.
Now the problem here seems to be that with pro tools, the mbox doesnt mirror the analog outs to the spdif out. When i connect the mbox to my computer, the analog outputs automatically mirror the to the spdif. Is this a pro tools LE thing?
In pro tools i can use spdif in, analog in and analog out. But no spdif out? somewhat strange. I;m thinking this is possibly a limitation of pro tools LE? My cubase seems to mirror it fine...
There seems to be 2 solutions to me,
1) I dont have pro tools set up right... Im not familiar with it but im not thick and i had quite a good play around. There seems to be nothing in any mbox documentation about spdif out with pro tools. In the i/o router, i can select spdif in or the analog in, but with the outs, there is no option and it certainly no mirroring it.
2) Load up some free audio software on the pro tools computer and hope that it works like cubase, ie: the analog outputs are mirrored by the spdif. What kinds of free software could possibly do this? I dont really want to buy software just to route a piece of hardware...
Is there any other ideas? Please, im desperate. Well not desperate but i;d really like it too work. Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Ian
