Another guitar micing question

Just quick one. If your close micing a cab with one mic, is it better that the amp is in an open space or an enclosed space. My amp is between a unit/cupboard/whatever and a wall with each flush either side. So there is basically a small 'corridor' (for want of a better description ) going about 2-3ft leading to the speaker cab. (sorry if this seems confusing, I tried to draw a diagram but it didn't like it)

I've just got a mic (sm57) and been trying different things. Previously been recording direct so I'm a total noob at this, but am I right in thinking that having it enclosed like that would cause unwanted reflections and resonance or would the mic not pick it up anyway? Or should I move it out into the open a bit?

Cheers :)

It doesnt matter where why or how, record the thing, and A/B the sounds, let your ear tell you what is working and what sounds good. the guitar should sound 'good' on It's own. Bob
