A song I've been working on lately. Any feedback appreciated.

I've been out of the loop a bit with all the new streaming services etc, Soundcloud seems ok and I think I hosted with them years ago.

This is a bit different then the other couple songs I've posted.

Happy boxing day.

Great song - the sound of the guitars and bass are exceptional - the Vocals need work - they sound good - but lack the confidence of leads - you could alter them through editing to get there - or maybe support them more - I’d have to look at the tracks to see what I would do.

60's guy: Thank you for listening to it. If you ever decide to play it, I tuned to 432Hz.

Papanate: Vocals have always been a struggle for me, I get the 'non-confident' comment often, and it is accurate. They have been somewhat edited, and part of the problem I think is that the take is comprised of several, over a couple months - so it probably sounds a bit comped.

I think I'll give them another shot. Thanks for pointing that out, as it motivates me to give them another go.

Appreciate the feedback.

I like the whole thing, but especially the cool, dark guitar soloing. I'm good with the vocal because I recognize your voice and I'm used to it, but a voice teacher recently gave me some unasked-for advice about how to sing:
* Posture and diaphragm awareness.
* Let it sing, don't try to sing it.
* Love it as you do it.

To that I would add: if you're closing in on it, but can't quite get it, j-u-d-i-c-i-o-u-s amounts of alcohol and cannabis, depending on your attitude to those things, of course.

Good to hear your stuff again.

ps Soundcloud's okay, but I think Bandcamp's better, for a couple of reasons. People can send you money, which is cool. Plus, people can download the format of their choice - you can put up wav files or flac files or whatever, and the user gets to choose. Way better than the standard Youtube mangle.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to it. That was so long ago, but I guess my vocal 'style' hasn't changed too
much.

I will try again on this one though, as Papanate graciously pointed out, they could use some
improvement.

I've been watching the Ken Tamplin videos on occasion (not that I will ever be able to do that kind of vocal range, but
the basics apply. There is also some controversy about him, that I don't quite get, but whatever, I like his videos), and
like any instrument, if you work on it enough there is typically improvement. With vocals, and me, it's a much
longer road.

Alcohol I can do, cannabis makes me way too paranoid.

I signed up for a BandCamp account at the same time as soundcloud, but for some reason chose soundcloud. I'll revisit their
website. Thanks for the info.

I thought it sounded really good. Nice song.

Guitars and drums sound real good.

The vocal has great clarity. For the most part, I think the performance is good. There is a short section or two where the delivery seems a little tentative. A pitch issue or two. Check the vocal between :45 - :55.

I might raise the vocal level a 1 or so. At least in spots.

I like the guitar solo. Tone is perfect for the song.

Sounds like a long lost Gerry Rafferty number to me. High praise.

TripleM: Thanks for checking it out. I'll take a look at those areas with the pitch issues, although I do plan to redo it. Maybe not all of it though. Appreciate the listen.

Thekesslerboy: I never would have guessed any similarity to a Gerry Rafferty song / style. I listened to a bit of his stuff 30 years ago. Interesting, I'll have to check out his material again. Thanks for taking the time to listen to it.

It’s not a bad thing - after all we can’t all have Bowie?McCartney/Elton like accuracy and voice - you know they are were usually 1 or 2 take vocals - me - I’m 20 or 30 take vocals - and while I can sing live alright - studio vocals require work - it just the way I’m built.
