Well geeze, the rabbit stays right side up, but the bowling ball rolls all over the place (except when you've got your dick in it.)

Sen.421's work well also..So many choices..Back the mic off the amp a little..When you listen to the amp do you put your ears right up on the speaker..proboly not, right! So move the mic back a little , also you might be havein' some prox effect goin' on..that might acount for you low end mush ..even more so when your cranking the snot outa the amp..try turning it down just a touch..Just a idea..anyways good luck
chessrock said:Hey, I have nothing against the sound of ribbon mics on a guitar amp.
But if someone tells me that something sounds kinda' muddy and they want more high end, I don't normally think: "ribbon mic."![]()
Call me crazy.
You guys are like the doctor who just writes a prescription while paying no attention to the patient's symptoms.
Patient: "Doc, my ass really hurts."
Doctor: "You should try a ribbon mic. Those really rock on guitar amps!"
Patient: "Yea, that's nice and all, but . . . what about my ass? I mean it hurts. You know . . . MY ASS? ? ?"
Doctor: "Well, in that case, I'd say a Sennheiser is definitely the ticket. I tried it on a guitar amp once, and it was bitchin' "
Patient: "But doc ? ? ? "
Doctor: "Oh yea. My ass bothered me once, too, but then I switched from head & shoulders to Johnson & Johnson, and my eyes don't bother me any more when I shower."
I could have suggested standing on his tiptoes for more highs

chessrock said:So basically, some guy comes on this board and says he's having trouble getting more high end on his electric guitar tracks . . . and like 10 of you all give like 10 different mic recommendations. And one guy says it could be his preamp.
Wow, what a resource this board has become. Why don't we just call ourselves harmonycentral2?
I don't mean to bust you guys' asses, but your suggestions, when taken as a whole, are pretty damn useless. Have you all learned nothing since you first started posting on this board?
