And now for something completely different

Very interesting stuff. The string samples dont do it for me, maybe a section patch might work better.

To me, the tune seems too fast. If you slowed it down, it might seem a bit less frantic and make a nice, calm new-agey piece. It's nice writing.

Sounds cool.
A littel messy IMO, just not as smooth flowing as it could be I dont think, but Im no expert on this type of music.

Piano sounds nice and thick and full, is that a real piano or samples?

David - thanks for the input. The stings are Vienna Solo strings; I can't seem to get a warm sound out of the Viola. Changing the tempo should be pretty easy.

Ecktronic - Thanks for the listen. The piano is a Bosendorfer 290 library (gigastudio).

You are right, this is a bit different from the R&R we get around here :D .
I like this sort of thing even though I'm not well versed in it. :D

I liked the piano sound.....The string sound had a nice vibrato that gave it a close to "real" sound.

DavidK knows way more about this type of stuff :D, so maybe try a new patch (not sure what kind he's referring to) and repost. I'll definitely listen if you do.

Great playing (and recording) too BTW....

:) :D :) :D

Very nice. Beautiful piano part. I'd like to hear the strings in a more realistic soundstage (headphones here at the moment). I'm imagining the strings at 10 and 2 o'clock, and the piano right it is.

Viola is all about 800Hz... just close your eyes and tweak slowly... The entire patch set seems to have sort ofa "squared-off" attack curve; if I'm explaining myself right. Feels like a little bit more legato attacks would leaven what people are perceiving as a tempo problem, one that I don't think is a problem.

Nice little piece, sort of a mild Celtic thing going on... THe Bosendorfer sample is lovely!!

Thanks Llarion.

I used two samples for the lead Viola; one for the long notes and one for the short notes. The short note samples have a rather harsh attack in some of the velocity layers; that's probably what you're hearing. Maybe using Legato samples is the answer.

I'll play around with the 800 Hertz area as well.

Perhaps! I'd be fascinated to hear it with longer attack curves. NOT MUCH longer; just enough to round it off a bit, ya know?
