And now for something completely different. Well not really

Hey that's pretty cool. I think the kick, or whatever is taking the place of the kick, could be a little louder. It gets kind of lost when the mix gets full. The little piano line that walks down jumps out a bit too much. Other than that, pretty awesome.

I agree with Greg, the walking piano thing does stand out a bit too much. This is cool. I like the energy alot. It reminds of a song I remember form the 80's. It was an instrumental, don't remember who did it, but in the video there's a little girl who says "HEY" everytime it comes up in the song. It's set in a junkyard, and there are dudes behind here cutting up metal with circular saws and stuff. Alot of stop motion type effect going on in the video. That's what this reminds me of in a weird sort of way. I think the mix sounds really good overall.

Interesting song. It was probably a bit more percussive and amelodic than I would have liked, but it was well-produced.

I'd suggest doing something to bring out more of a melody, but that might require a complete rewrite.

You had some pretty cool stuff going on.

Pretty cool tune!
Mix sounds fine to me, very nice panning, everything sits nicely. Nice work!

Joey :):):):)

I think I'm happy with the arrangement & mix on this one.

Any and all opinions welcome

I disagree respectfully on the piano jumping out too much, because I know that if the kick and general bottom were heavier when that part plays in the beginning that would not be an issue, and I like the sense of vertical space it gives anyhow.

Pretty wild stuff, how do you think of this? My brain is just not wired to think that way. I envy it. Love the late 80s retro thing. and the fat Robert Palmer drums when they are in there.

Really different - but I still liked it. . . Esp. the walking piano - that was pretty sweet.

Parts of it reminded me of in-game music from a first person shooter. . . now I have to remember which one.

The vid described was/is of a The Art of Noise track - not one of their better songs.
This has a little of their sensibility.
Piano too loud.
Hey's too frequent.
Good backing track.

great performance and mix..I agree that Id like it a little more melodic as I got a little lost in the track...but rockin apart from that, great guitar sounds!

Guys, thanks for all the feedback, I appreciate it.

Greg_L - I'll have another look at that kick. The piano thing does poke out but I'm reasonably comfortable with that (today anyway). Thanks for checking it out

ksounds - Yeah Ray nailed it. You know what, I haven't heard that AON tune in probably 25 years, and now I think that's where the Hey's come from. I had a feeling I didn't come up with that by myself dammit. Thanks for that clarification :D

mattdee1 - Intense = good. Thanks for the listen

VomitHatSteve - I didn't intentionally go for amelodic, it just sort of evolved that way. I think maybe the background synths are clouding it up a bit. I do like the percussive aspects of non-percussive instruments. Cheers Vomit...um..Steve

joeym - Appreciate the kind words, thanks Joey

Llarion - Thanks for the listen Llarion. Yeah, other than a kernel concept like 'aggressive' or 'slithery', it's all pretty haphazard. The tunes I do don't really have any grand plan. And as for lyrics, well fugettaboudit...:D

dodgeaspen
- Heh, thanks man!

bassdweller - Thanks for the spin. Well I was sprung on the Art of Noise, but I don't play shooter games anymore so I should be pretty safe there. Unless it was Doom...but that's too long ago surely

rayc - Yep you busted me on the AON. That was actually completely unconscious, but you're absolutely right. Even when ksounds mentioned it, I didn't have a clue where it came from. Too many heys? When you're lyrically challenged like me it's hard to know when to say when. Cheers Ray

kcearl - Yeah maybe I relying on the piano to carry the melody, probably too much to expect. Thanks man

I like the guitar tones in places. I would agree that the piano is too loud, but I also think it has too much reverb for this piece. Doesn't fit with the rest of the mix. Also, could you post the lyrics... Just kidding. Hey!

Just wanted to mention I love this one. It has all the guitar sounds and beats I remember liking on the first couple of your tunes I ever heard plus some new sounds as well. I didn't pick up on any particular mix issues. You kind of have your own sound which I happen to like.

guitar zero - Yeah I wouldn't have used that much reverb but it was already on the piano patch so I just left it alone and it became part of the mix. Heh yeah world's shortest lyric. Just the way I like 'em! Thanks man

heatmiser - Good on ya heatmiser. Thanks for the positive comments. Cheers!
