Hey everyone, looking for some help on upgrading from an all digital home studio setup for my band--guitar, bass, drums, trumpet, sax, 1 vocal, and synth--to a setup made to track live with reel and mix digitally on a PC. I'm super new to analog, and have been looking at several 8-track decks--have my eye on a Tascam TSR-8--but my main concern is a mixer and just the process of converting the tracks into digital a digital format to mix on ProTools, etc.

Would really appreciate anyone pointing me in the right direction. Thanks.

Once you have your tracks down on tape you will probably need a interface if you want more then two tracks at a time.(unless you want to play 1 track on the reel and record it to the comp and do the same with each track) You (depending on your mixer) will go from the L & R outs (might be RCA's) to your computer 3.5mm stereo. That will give you two tracks at a time. Hope this makes sense.
